the first episodes of Kamen Rider W and Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger because it's something I've been meaning to do for quite some time. Kamen Rider W because reasons and Gokaiger because space pirates. What the **** is wrong with these people? Seriously. These aren't people. These are caricatures of people. People don't act like that. I get that it's supposed to be over the top, but every goddamn time I see a Japanese person or any anime ever they have the same mannerisms and everything and it's just uuuuuuuugggggggggghhhhhhh. It's a pain to watch because every time they so much as move I can't help but analyze every motion they make and how absurd it is. And the way they talk oh my god the way they talk. I thought that anime dialogue was just a stylistic choice, but you mean to tell me they talk like that in their live-action shows as well? Why? It's absolutely ridiculous. And every character is so unbelievably archetypal. This is why I don't like anime aside from the anime I like, because they're not people. They don't act like people. They don't talk like people. They don't move like people. They're not people. They're caricatures of people. And I get that it's probably just the demographic they're aiming for, but still, that's completely unnecessary. I'm probably going to watch the next episode of Kamen Rider W until the above reasons make me sick of it because despite all of that I did kinda like the first episode and it's something I do want to like. I may watch the next episode of Gokaiger out of morbid curiosity. I don't know.
This is the first time I've watched a live-action Japanese show, so to be fair I really had no idea what I was getting into. I did not expect super serious dramatic characterizations and plot, I expected the characters, no matter how dull, to at least move and talk like human beings. But no. I don't care how silly the conceit is, but there are certain things that do not translate to live-action as well as their do to animation. It's like they forgot that they're not in an anime. Kamen Rider W had this too, but I somewhat liked that. I get that it's supposed to be comedic, in which case it's clearly not my sense of humor, but it still bugs me.[DOUBLEPOST=1386119412][/DOUBLEPOST] thank you
Kamen Rider is meant for children, just like most super sentai shows. That's why it's so cartoony. It's supposed to be goofy and dumb and overacted. A lot of japanese or korean comedies are like that too.
