Take comfort in the fact that some people believe that the initial conditions of the universe dictate all of our actions and free will, while extant, has no bearing on the outcome of events that haven't previously been ordained.

    Have not.

Determinism is a lonely road, I am afraid. Alas, one can never predict the self regardless.

That can be simple to do, all you have to do is look at the man in the mirror.

    Good catch. Thanks.

It still allows you the emotional crutch that nothing in the past can have happened any other way. So when you look back on your mounting failures or some other personal catastrophe you know that if you could have done anything to change the outcome, you would have and thus your doom is not on your shoulders. This is a completely irrational way of looking at it, but it works for some people.

Addtional note: I don't drink. I never intend on poisoning myself.

It also allows one to become a sociopath, riding the wave. More important to disregard the past than believe that you need to cope with it.

Neither do I. Alcohol is my least favorite drug after meth.

It's better to be able to move forward and function than it is to be mired down in regret and other annoyances.

It is better to think of what you wish to do now in all cases. Determinism allows one to let go of all wants and let things fall where they may, so to speak. Or it would for many.

That is true. But to be perfectly honest, I don't think someone who would fall into that line of thinking could possibly contribute that much to society even if they did not end up doing so because allowing oneself to fall into that line of thinking is proof of faulty logical facilities and thusly limited potential for accomplishment to begin with.

I'm only just thinking now that my initial statement could be taken as an insult rather than a diverting bit of humor. Well, just as well it was likely ignored by everyone but you.
