As some of you maybe know, I work as an intern at a security company as a town supervisor. And today I pretty much got the shock of my life when I saw a guy of 40/50 years old fell on the grass next to a cycle path. He probably had a heart attack. It was pretty awkward, as he just stood still and then fell on the grass. I held his head up so he couldn't swallow his tongue 0_0 After my colleague called the office to get a car, he hit the man on the chest and he suddenly recovered. We walked the guy back to his house, which wasn't too far away. We advised the man to drink some water and sit down on the couch, and otherwise go to the hospital if he continued not feeling well. Well, he lived.
not exactly the way to perform CPR >.> but you acted, and thats more than most people do, most go into shock, i just had to do a CPR course myself so its burned into my head for like the 4th time
That wasn't really CPR, but way to go with the eye catching title :v What do you mean he recovered? He woke up? Was he unconcious? I know it's not really your responsibility, but you should have checked for breathing and pulse. And putting people in the recovery position prevents them from choking on their tongue :3 I can't imagine just thumping someone's chest randomly would restart a stopped heart xD But good job on thinking fast :3
Ok I'm no health expert and I tink it's great you helped hi...but if you think someones dying or dead...wouldnt it be bad to whack them?
I am not familiar with CPR at all, so I was lucky I had a colleague who did to back me up. It's not CPR, but the guy really had a heart attack.
That's pretty impressive, I'd do the same even if I had no idea what to do. It doesn't look that hard, but I'm probably wrong.
Well at least you did something. As was said, many people will go into complete shock during such a situation. I personally would've totally freaked and been no help at all. I really don't think we appreciate people like you enough. Just normal people who save lives, you know what I mean? In short: good job.
Well, it's not exactly CPR, but you still did something to help, which probably meant the difference between life and death for that guy, so kudos to you. Not many people would know how to act in that kind of situation.
At first I didn't know whether to congratulate you both for your quick thinking or nag at you for your careless approach, but in the end he got out better and that wouldn't have been the case if you weren't there. Also, you were willing to help which is admirable in itself. So yeah, my nice side won. Congratulations!
Congratulations, but thats not even close to cpr xD by the way, you cant choke on or swallow your tongue.
Miele is right with the tongue thing. If you become unconscious and are laying on your back, the muscles that control your tongue will relax and the tongue will fall back, blocking your airway. But you can not swallow your tongue, you'll probably just automaticly breath through your nose.
High five. You totally saved that man's life. Your method wasn't typical, but it's still noteworthy. I commend you for not being one of the stop and stare people. I'll admit when I read the title, I was waiting for a fat man choking in a restaurant type story.
