It's illegal if you're getting something for free that you'd usually have to pay for or that you don't have the rights to.

Programs like Limewire are P2P (Peer to Peer) which means that someone downloads Limewire and Limewire takes their files and puts them on Limewire's database.

iTunes is where artists upload their music for iPod's and other MP3 players. People pay for these songs and it is legal.

Regarding the phone commercials, they leave out the fact that you have to pay. (Although it flashes in little white writing at the bottom)

This is basically why CD sales are declining. Someone buys the CD, it goes on a P2P database, and millions download it.

What about sites like NarutoFan? I checked there and you can have the free non-premium account and still dowload the whole soundtrack. And this no disclaimer on anything.

I hate NarutoFan. They ruined one of the best download mirrors that Db ever had for North America. Anyway, since Naruto is licensed in North America it is considered illegal what all fansubbers of the series are doing. As for the music, if it was ripped from a a CD and put up for download, regardless of whehter or not the composer was given credit, it is still considered pirating since you're aren't actually buying the CD.

Dude, Db sucks. I never found out how to download the episodes with DB. Plus, NarutoFan has direct http downloads for every new chapter which is infinitly better than BT.

Please remove the link, it is TECHNICALLY advertising.

I have a premium(gold) account there, so I download faster haha

    Back on topic:

I think pirating is acceptible to an extent. I wont download a movie until after I've

    A. Seen it in theaters already
    B. It has come out on DVD

Music, in my opinion is fine to download FOR YOURSELF, dont go giving the album you download for free to other people though, thats not right....

    thats my 2 cents.

I actually think downloading music is okay, partially because whenever I download something I end up loving the band and buy the CD.

I agree with you, Arc. It's legal to listen to music without owning it, and that's pretty much all I do with the stuff I download. I'm not burning it on CD's and selling them or anything.

Yes, it is still illegal because instead of buying the CD's to listen to, people are just downloading it.

...I have one question. If you buy a song for an ipod, can you use it in an AMV? Or would that be illegal??

I believe that would be legal because you did get the song from a legal and reliable source, so you have full rights to use it.

If I'm wrong, feel free to correct me.

If you bought the song you're in the moral clear. Either way, if you use pirated or non-pirated songs it's just a matter of how your conscience feels.

And Mario, whether it's direct download of Bit Torrent it's only a matter of seconds before any ep is primed and ready.
