So I found these in the attic and decided to paint them again. I've not seen them since I was 12. I used to collect those LotR figures that came with magazines cause LotR is badass (I didn't even realise what it was until much, much later). I used to have a lot more but some got broke/lost and I'm just using the ones I hadn't painted since in the blue box their stood on is the old ones with heat melted paint lol.

Anywho, the only ones that are finished (I think) are the talk evil looking guys (I don't know what they are. I got a box of them for my 12th birthday cause my cousin was into Warhammer and wanted me to have a go) and a pair of horses. Everything else is either in the works or almost finished.

I've not touched paints for a few years so lol.

Anywho there are lots of pictures so:

You leave me speechless. Those are wonderful.

I especially loved the horses. I'm not sure if it was intentional or not, but the figures look like they're from Dungeons & Dragons.

Anyway, definitely keep up this great work.

I think the Warhammer fantasy series which the non-Lord of the Rings models are from is based on Dungeons and Dragons. I'm not too sure, I never really got into it I only own like a box of those guys. The horses and riders are the Riders of Rohan from LotR though.

These are super-cool! i assume you got them as a grey and you painted them? Or are you just re-doing the paint? Either way they look cool. I'd love to see some more. (By the By, are they from a series of some sort?)

Oh, hey, I remember painting stuff like this when I was younger.

There's a lack of shading, I suppose, but It's not really needed to make a figure look good. The only problem I have with these is that they are kind of bright, especially the armor. You should probably mix your armor-color with a tiny bit of black. The green color on the horse rider also stood out as a bit too bright. You might want to mix that with some other color too, though not necessarily black.

Yeah, they where grey to start with. I didn't paint them all when I was a kid. My old ones paint has mostly melted or chipped off so I'm not gonna do those. I know the ones on circular bases are the Lord of the Rings tabletop game and the square ones are Warhammer Fantasy but I'm not sure who the Warhammer guys actually are.

I've not finished them yet due to a lack of paint and no mixing pallet lol. I can't add much shading without mixing as you've said. The book I followed for the first one has me using the goblin green (it's a pretty bright green) but tells me to add shading to areas, yet I won't be able to do that until I can mix for a darker green (for the shading) and a lighter green (for where the light has worn the cape). Once I've got all the colours on the things anyway I'll be fixing up the details, I'm just gonna dry brush some darker or muskier colours onto the armour to give it that worn Rohan effect.

DUDE! I have those kind of figures as well! Lots of elves and goblins, and i have only painted like 4 or 5 of them and that was years ago as well!

I know how difficult it can get trying to work out all the details. You have done good work there, i really like how you have painted those horses and the armory is really good! I remember having a hard time with that one.
