I have that problem sometimes, too. If a restart doesn't fix it, try messing around in your control panel or something.

You might also want to check if it's muted...

It's been restarted I don't know how many times, and the sound controlls are balanced and unmuted.

Alrighty...I guess I'll look into the sound card thing. Thanks, guys. I'll get the sound on sooner or later.

    Ok, go here>http://www.emachines.com/support/product_support.html

    Then fill out the options:
    Product Type
    Series
    Model #

Then when you do that click downloads, then download and run the audio option. There are two audio files. So download the first and after that finishes updating if you still don't have sound download the other.

How long have you had the speakers for? Maybe you need some new ones?

Alright, I have only read the first page of this thread, so I am not sure if this has bee posted yet: at your taskbar (the bar with the green - or grey...or blue- start-button), and look all the way at the right, and you will see these icons. Click that arrow button - if you are running windows XP - and look for the cone-shaped thing that dogs wear when they get stiches or something. Double click it, and see if all the vertical lines have the little module-thing at the top-most thing. Try that!
