Well, go ahead and hit me with 'em. I'm gonna replay Metal Gear Rising, so double dips are fine.

all Gundam. The only other mechanime I've seen I know you've seen.

Awakening of the Trailblazer - The shitty "we must learn to understand each other and stop fighting" Japanese anime movie to end all shitty "we must learn to understand each other and stop fighting" Japanese anime movies. It's probably my favorite Gundam thing since it doesn't rely on formula and does the typical, general Gundam themes better than they've ever been done because of it. The last 2 seconds after the credits cheapen the whole thing, though. You don't need to watch the first two seasons of the show. It may watch better that way, in fact. Also, it's the most traditional sci-fi Gundam's ever been. Maybe that's why I like it so much.

0080 - Relatively short OVA that does the "implications of war" theme on a more personal and intimate level than has been done anywhere else in Gundam. One of the best.

MS Igloo - there's like 3 MS Igloo series but they're all basically the same thing. They're all 3 episode OVAs that give insight into grunt life during the One Year War. Basically the idea is that you follow this transport ship and it's crew as they test out various weapons before they hit mass production. It's not heavy on themes and ideas but if you're into dirty, shooting from the trenches war movies and that kind of thing you'll like this. It has some cringe-worthy cg but it's not unwatchable. It's one of the most unique things Gundam has to offer. Give it a look.

Gundam X - the only full length Gundam show I'll recommend but it's the shortest of them all. 37 episodes. It's not particularly stellar but it's overwhelming with 90's animation charm and has the most likable protag in Gundam ever. It's been a long time since I've seen this so I don't remember a whole hell of a lot about it, but I do remember being left with a good impression. I think it's my favorite actual Gundam show if I remember correctly.

Metropolis (anime) - It's not mech but it's got robots and junk. One of my personal favorites.

    code geass

I've seen G Gundam, Gundam Wing and Endless Waltz, some of SD Gundam Force (sucked,) some of MSG, and some of 00, and played Journey to Jaburo.

    The rest have been noted.

Code Geass is one of the best anime I've ever watched.

it was a joke rec. I think you've said that you haven't seen the Akito OVA's. You should check those out as well. They're not quite as good as the original but they're not bad. They have some beautiful mech action in them.
code geass used to be my favorite anime until I saw Garden of Words and Tari Tari. I feel bad not having it at #1 but I can't not have Garden and Tari above it in good conscience.

Aldnoah.Zero, season 1 is just an objectively better Code Gayass and season 2 is just around the corner.

You're right about the OVA's. I'll get to them later.

Heard otherwise, but I guess I'll at least watch the first episode.

Recently, there's Captain Earth. While it has some minor flaws regarding pacing and after finishing it there were still few major loose ends that really bugged me, it's among my favorite shows of 2014. The characters are well developed (though the best character arc appears to be lifted directly from Dangan Ronpa 2 with only a few unique twists) and the animation is beautiful, especially when it comes to facial expressions and mecha fights. Even still shots from the fight scenes are great. Just look at this thing of beauty:

The humor is well written and the slice of life sections really sell the characters as believable (if rather unrealistic) human beings. The best way I can describe it is that it has the conspiratorial intrigue of Evangelion or Code Geass, the hot-bloodedness of Gurren Lagann, and the heart of Eureka 7 but it's not quite on the same level as any of them. Go in expecting something like that and you won't be disappointed.

I have also heard great things about Aldnoah Zero, but from what I've seen it's got a lot of CGI and that hurts it quite a bit in the animation department.

The fourth season of the Legend of Korra is kind of a mecha anime.

Only mecha anime I remember watching (Grendizer aside) :

Nothing spectacular or mindblowing, no great subtext (if any), just decent entertainment.
