I need games.

Okay guys, my friend gave me a $30 Gamestop gift card and since it's not technically my money, I can feel a lot better about spending it! So, I would like to buy a game or two, and I am turning to y'all for a recommendation.

What I want is something I'll be able to play online with you guys because right now all I play online is SoulCalibur IV, which apparently no one but libre has. :C

For the record, I have a PS3 (and a headset, if that's relevant). I do like SoulCalibur so a fighting game might be nice, I've honestly never felt the temptation to play a FPS and don't think I ever will so I would stray away from those, unless playing them online is exceptionally fun. Otherwise I tend to favor RPGs. I'm awful at video games as well, so something idiot friendly would be nice.

Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3? It's a great fighting game with an online that's still very used.

Valkyria Chronicles is great (and really cheap) if you enjoy strategy RPGs (But it is sort of hard). NieR is a really good RPG apparently, even though I've been told it gets a bit repetitive.
What else do you like besides RPGs? It would help a lot since most current gen RPGs are nothing like past ones. There's a lot of cool PSN games you could get that would satisfy your needs.

It is about 20 bucks but besdies 'Arrival' all the DLC comes free and comes with a comic that explains the first game (since its owned by Microsoft).

Bioshock 2

You don't need to play the first one to understand it, and it has a really cool multiplayer. It's like $15.

 

I think UMvC3 is still at 40, though Marvel vs Capcom 3 should be less than $30 at this point.

Also, I know that I'm not the only one here who owns it and I'd love to play with you sometime~

 

I was majorly considering this one just because I like fighting games, I'm not into Marvel or Capcom but it seems like a lot of people play it. Question is, it has weird titles? What am I supposed to get? ;__; Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 or Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds.

I've been considering this just because it's $13, but I just want a "I'mma play online and have fun" game. I can't in good conscience buy another RPG when I've not yet finished Folklore or Final Fantasy XIII.

I really don't know lol. I only have four PS3 games, and I don't play one of them. For my PS2 I enjoyed Kingdom Hearts (obviously), Tony Hawk games (don't hate), Force Unleashed, Jak & Daxter (even though I never beat Jak II >: ), and Final Fantasy.

I do really want to play Mass Effect just because... Bioware lol, but I hate coming in on the middle of things. >: They really need to put the first one out for PS3.

Dragon Age seems fun as well, been considering that.

I would really like to stay away from sequels. D;

Fallout 3 is actually pretty standalone, I mean there are gonna be some references to the past games but Fallout is pretty much the story of trials in the Wasteland.

And for ME2 I can totally understand, it still bothers me at times but the fact Bioware even gave us some comic to catch us up on stuff is really generous.

Dumb Microsoft there is no way I will buy an Xbox just to play one game.

That is true, but isn't there continuity between the games? Like you choose certain things in one game and it carries over?
I don't know much about the games so I could be wrong but yeah.

if only they never made TOR and just released a KotOR remake i would be happy and occupied forever ;____;

 

The comic lets you make vital decisions that you make in the first game (like LI, Who lives or dies, etc). The codex is also very good on the game if you want to learn about the species and other terms.

 

Ah alright. Still not as good as playing the actual game though, hah.

 

If you buy it new, there's a comic at the beginning that tells you the story in comic book style and lets you make the major decisions.

 

save your money, save up a lot more and get a 360 :D

Let me do this for you Misteh

-Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3 (Pretty much the original MvC3 plus a bunch of new characters and arenas. Worth the extra money imo)
-Fallout 3 (I was literally addicted to this game for like 3 full months. Still need to beat it since I let a friend borrow it)
-ICO and Shadow of the Colossus HD Collection (these games I just know are both up your alley)
-Soulcalibur V (obviously you'll want the next title in a series of games you already enjoy, just never use Ezio or our friendship is done)
-Bioshock (so much better than 2 with story and atmosphere, which I value more than just shooting and drilling peeps)
-Batman Arkham Asylum & City (Best. Superhero Games. EVER. Feels like Metroid in exploration and....amazing combat)
-Dragon Age Origins (great story and characters, though lots of people prefer the PC version so IDK)

I dunno if you like survival horror (probably not), but I adore Dead Space 1 & 2, so there's that too.

 

There is no reason why this thread should have kept going after this. Misty, get this game. If only for the art, get this game. You will love it. No PS3 owner should go without having played this game at least once.
