Well, not really. Basically, I share a room with my sister. I often stay up into all hours of the night on my computer (I have a desktop, for the record), which she is fine with, but she has mentioned that the sound of me typing bothers her. So I'm on the hunt for a quiet keyboard. Right now I'm using the stock HP keyboard that came with my computer, it works just fine, so I'll probably keep it as a backup in case any keyboards in the house break. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations? I would like it to be nice looking but I am willing to make some sacrifices there if I have to. I do like chiclet style keyboards personally, but I'm willing to go for regular keys as long as they are not too tall. I prefer wired keyboards. USB is a must as my computer lacks a PS/2 port. Function keys aren't important to me, but I do want a numpad. Built in USB ports would be pretty snazzy but not at all necessary. Price-wise, I'd rather not go too high, but if I have to I have. Recommend away~ Edit: Oh, and plz no ergonomic ones. Edit 2: Also, I use Windows 7 and Ubuntu 11.10.
Is it full of dust or anything? Back when I had my wired keyboard and mouse, I noticed that whenever I cleaned the keyboard, it would type really quietly, and I never even noticed that the typing sound increased a little bit until after I cleaned it. I recommend the one my mom got me for my birthday. It's by Logitech, and it's an MK320. It's wireless, but it works pretty good, and it also comes with a wireless mouse. It will also be compatible with your computer, since the adapter (about the size of a wired keyboard / mouse plug-in) you plug into the back or front of your computer is a USB plug-in. The price is $29.99. Click here to see it.
I did some very quick research and I think I might have found what you are looking for? I found it on Amazon and it is only $24.88. Here it is. I hope this helps~
I clean my keyboard frequently, it's always been this volume. And I would really rather not have a wireless keyboard, I don't want to deal with batteries and such. I did see that one on Amazon and was considering it, but then I saw this one as well and it was cheaper and prettier :x
Alright, Awesome time. This is a PSA; Newegg is the best site to find Hardware. No need to debate it, it is. The keystroke feedback is delightfully tactile; the tapping is quiet; the base is rugged; the space key is generously large, and…What else you want to expect? Just get it and explore by yourself. Nothing fancy, straight up, quiet keyboard. $8 !!! IOGEAR GKM513 Black USB IOGEAR's Spill-Resistant Keyboard and Mouse Combo is designed to be protected from accidental splashes and spills that may occur at the work place or home office. The strategically placed canals under the key will allow the fluid to stream away from the keys through the drainage channels. In addition, the optical mouse provides optimum accuracy over most surfaces and minimal hand movement due to its 800 dpi resolution. Now you really don't have to cry over spilled milk when you take control of your desktop with IOGEAR's Spill-Resistant Keyboard and Mouse Combo! Accidents happen and can be very inconvenient. Value your time and take a preemptive step to protect your typing habitat. A little more expensive, but still a solid keyboard. $16! Kensington K72357US Black USB Bring sleek, contemporary styling to your desktop without sacrificing feel or productivity. The Kensington Slim Type Keyboard combines a stylish exterior with premium laptop-style keys for crisp and responsive feel. Dedicated media keys control volume, mute and sleep while the Internet key instantly launches your browser. A little more expensive, but still relatively quiet. 28$ Here is top of the line if you want silent keyboards. Das Keyboard DASK3ULTMS1SI Black USB You’re sold on the tactile awesomeness of the das keyboard, but need it a bit more on the quiet side? Maybe you’ve got super-noise-sensitive coworkers, or you spend a lot of time on the phone while you type. Perhaps you just want to keep this little beauty to yourself. Whatever the reason, we’ve got you covered. The “silent†model, which sounds much like a regular keyboard, gives you a superior keystroke without all the (albeit cool) racket. Das Keyboard Model S Ultimate Silent is blank, with no inscriptions on the keys. It features high-end, mechanical key switches that click less than its cousin, the Model S Ultimate. This quieter model is ideal for people working in an open environment or for workers who need to type while talking on the phone. The Model S Silent keeps its outstanding tactile feel. The other features are identical to the Model S Ultimate, including a two-port USB 2.0 hub and newly redesigned electronics that provide full n-key rollover. Das Keyboard makes the best, silent keyboards there is. It's their specialty. However... I know Misty won't go for this, as the keys are not marked. Also, it goes for a whooping $149.
Kensington strikes again. B| Seriously considering this one, just have to see if Amazon or Newegg is cheaper (or elsewhere).
