I miss negative rep.

Plus we have members that barely post and always like their friends' posts

 

Same was true of rep, just fyi.

 

But at least with rep you had to spread it to nine other people's posts before you could rep the same person again.

Oh yeah, it was a nice safeguard, but then people created their repwhore groups and found ways around it. Rep was a plenty flawed system, just like likes are.

 

I really only like posts because they're either making a good point -- like here -- or they were funny. :)

Yeah, this was mainly in 2007 or 2008. Once the rep requirement for Premium was removed it died down.

I miss that one kid who had so much negative rep that the site didn't even have a title for him, so that when you hovered over his rep gems, it was just blank. Good times.

 

That happened quite a lot. Not quite the mass red gem dereps that used to happen in 07/08 but it happened fairly frequently.

 

forums are better without any form of ranking like likes or reputation. Even keeping track of post count. I would rather not know how much of my life I have been wasting indoors.

It's been a long time, I don't recall. He wasn't exactly well known, I just remember that pretty much every post he made was either full of grammatical errors, directly insulting to some other member, or both. So all of his posts just got bombed. Love that guy.

 

This thread made me realize that those users with the Doctor names are not, in fact, one person.

To be honest though they might aswell be, they all lack enough personality individually to be a fully functioning member of society, combined though, they're getting there.
