I don't even see how people can argue the fact that America is the best. They complain about "foreigners" taking their jobs., yet most will sit there and do everything half-assed to begin with. America is kind of going to hell., I mean., think of it this way., if we cut off all ties with every country we are in contact with., whether to trade or buy things off of or whatever., we will not survive. We would basically run around like chickens whose heads got cut off until we eventually just die off.

Over dramatic., but it somewhat gets the point across.

And before anyone gets butthurt., since it is the internet and it's bound to happen., one., this is my opinion., get over it. And two., not all Americans are like this., but a mass majority are. ~

Oh., and don't get me started on how America tries to be the "Cops of the World." with butting into situations in which doesn't effect us.

If people want to post naked photos of themselves, whether they're of age or not, that's their choice. However, that's not the kind of personal info places like Facebook want, obviously.

Most of the personal info you can provide on any site, such as gender and sexuality, is optional. For example, Facebook has a field for your address. Since I have my security settings set so only friends (and I think friends of friends) can view my page, I had my full address for quite a while (mostly to help friends that were coming to hang out for the first time), but I removed it a while ago and just went with city, state and country because I didn't want those friends that I used to take to lunch to remember where I lived (they are nice kids, just not really respectful, so it wasn't because I was afraid they'd hurt me or anything, I just didn't want them "harassing" me, so to speak).

Yeah, but with a lot of people (Amaury, for example) you kind of have to come off as a dick in order to get your point across, especially when those people are clearly smart enough to get it but seem to refuse to because most people are so nice about it.

YOU TAKE THAT BACK YOU DAMN COMMIE BASTURD. MURICA HAS FREEDOM AND GUNS AND APPLE PIE AND RON PAUL AND THE BEST GOD BLESSED MILITARY IN THE WORLD EXCEPT FOR ENGLAND AND GERMANY AND RUSSIA AND ALL THOSE OTHER COMMIE COUNTRIES THAT DON'T COUNT BECAUSE THARE COMMIES.

Being a dick doesn't make you better at explaining something to someone. Just makes you a dick.
I had a teacher who was condescending when explaining how to do something. What a dick she was, didn't learn much from someone who insulted me in such a way in front of others.
When I was a Teaching Assistant, the students would get stuff quicker once you explained clearly and asked them what they thought about the question/problem. Thinking your students couldn't do something based on your own judgement was a self fulfilling prophecy, you had to believe in them so they believed in themselves.

Being a dick is confused for being blunt in this situation. When you don't tiptoe around people's feelings it's easier to explain things as straight-forward as possible. Not saying what was said was any less mean because of this, just getting the terms straight.

Also this thing people believe that you can be blunt or tiptoeing only, why don't people just avoid bringing in feelings? Or the more productive, bring in positive feelings to engage the person better and make them try to understand harder.

Wow I actually learnt something working as a TA...

"Founded in February 2005, YouTube allows billions of people to discover, watch and share originally-created videos. YouTube provides a forum for people to connect, inform and inspire others across the globe and acts as a distribution platform for original content creators and advertisers large and small."

From Youtube itself, so.. it's not just a video hosting site, by its own definition.

Just thought I'd throw that little tidbit out there.. I don't even know what this thread is about anymore so

Well this is a pretty unhappy thread.

It is a new type of website, yes. Annoying? Maybe. But it's accurate to say it's catching on. This site was once a "new type of site." The rest of what you said is very subjective.

MySpace was pretty big to the point almost every highschool redneck had one. It was also used pretty often for selfie porn. It's bigger, yes, because it's easier. I hate to break it to you mang, but the world is going digital. Smartphones are a more and more common and they have you (general) always linked to the lives of people you know. But maybe I'm the only one who thinks about how the internet being always available in your pocket is indeed a sign that this is a thing for everybody. The good news is it makes it so there's no real excuse for ignorance, but that's a different discussion. To digress, the internet is free use for everybody and the entire world is getting on board. I mean, AT&T talks about how they plan on improving the "digital life" concept they have to a level of connecting your smartphone to your fridge. That says things. The internet's popularity doesn't ruin the fun any farther than on a personal level for some. It's improving the world.

All youtube did was make it easier to be social, if you want. Make a fake G+ account and use it as an internet personality hub, yo. I get the massiveness has made their features just show up on other websites. I for one am known to constantly make fun of the fact we have a "likes" system. But at the end of the day, things being more streamlined is better. It's simpler and easier for the user increasing accessibility and limiting the learning curve. This was the point of computers in the first place. Youtube was meant to be social if you wanted it to be. You can be a passive or interactive viewer.

This is exactly why I said Amaury had a valid point. This is a factual thing. If you're interacting people, you're being social. Increasing the productivity on that social time isn't a problem, gearing it toward selfie-teenagers is but that's a different bullet.

I'm glad you acknowledge it's a valid point, because that's all I said Mr. Essay Post. You're allowed to be mad about something like that. Opinions are good. Have as many as you can about everything you can! I'm not going to tell you you're wrong, I'm going to tell you it's an opinion. His opinion is different than yours and he made a good point in his opinion's defense. We should be proud he's starting to compete with the big boys!

Also I have no idea how the true statement about the difference of KHV and facebook jabs his argument in the gut, but hey.

Whoa there caps, I'm not saying you didn't have a point or that it was your intent. I know it wasn't your intention there Jeeks, but it came off as being a dick. That's all I wanted to point out. Gotta be careful with your deadpan sometimes.

    Now to this...

His point is valid on the face value of the matter (And you're about to make me argue about something that I don't really agree with, btw =P). When you interact with other people, you're being social. This is factual. I don't care if facebook and texting and blah have corrupted what being social means, but that's what's going on. If I comment on a video, I'm either being social with the other commenters or the video maker (point out a flaw or saying you liked the video is still being social). You go on a forum, you're being social. Even if it's not the real you, it's still you being social because you're interacting with other people. His point was simple as that, and that's valid. Disagree or agree, it's okay to make that point.

Google + isn't murdering anonymity. Skype wants me to use my real name and take a webcam selfie. It's not going to get it. If all Google + wants to be is my internet persona hub, then I see no reason making your G+ name "Jiku Neon" or whatever and putting up your sexy, hand drawn, gal as the profile picture is really any different than having a profile here. It's not killing anonymity, it's killing anonymity if it gives in. It gives ya a place to manage your comments, responses, and interact with every one. Don't want to do that? Your profile can sit and do nothing. Grats. On a personal note, I just don't think people have the right to be anonymous in a social environment like this. I just think if you can't be anonymous around daily people you hate, then there's no need to around people you're choosing to interact with and enjoy the company of. It always seemed to me like that meant we were lesser. I dislike it, but I put up with it for certain introverts. Afterall, just because I wear my heart on my sleeve doesn't mean every one else should.

    That's all Jeeks. Luv ya.

You don't have to be a dick. It's fun to be a dick, but that's a huge difference. Jeeks just slipped up. I was just letting her know, that from an outside observer, that came off more as a knock.

I'm only agreeing with you because I thought it first!

I'm sure you made a lot of good points.
I'm sure I disagree with most of them.
But your post is long and I don't have that kind of energy this time of night.

This has gone on longer than I care to keep up with. Lets just agree to disagree and call it a day, yeah?

I will clarify on this valid point.

Complaining over YouTube changing something is frivolous because it doesn't affect you, really. You can still upload videos, comment on others' videos, etc., which is the point of YouTube.

When I complain over something like the Internet going down, it may not necessarily be right, but it's more understandable because it does affect me. I can't access the Internet.

(I'm using "you" generally, not you specifically.)

ugh, come one. i just said i dont want to keep up with this and youre making me want to keep up with this.

It does affect me. As a user, any changes you make on functionality directly affect me. That's the whole point of the change. You're essentially saying that since I disagree with the changes, my opinion is wasted. While you may not mind the changes, I do. The internet going down is not a permanent change to something, it's a temporary anomaly. It will return to normal.

Nigga I just typed a wikipedia article for you. YOU WILL GO BACK, READ IT, QUOTE IT AND EDIT THE QUOTE TO SAY SNIP BECAUSE IT'S HUGE AND THEN SAY THE SAME SHIT YOU JUST SAID >:/

It's really not that long, the quotes just make it seem huge. But once you read it, we can agree to disagree.
