    Don't know; don't care.

Besides, the whole point of Facebook, forums and, yes, even YouTube (before all these changes took place) is the social aspect.

You're not really in any place to tell him, because you do this all the time bro.

No offense, but that's really hypocritical.

(I tell you this because I'm your friend so I won't be a dick about it)

There are people who think you are singlehandedly making this site a very much worse place to be with your own threads, comments, habits, etcetera. However, almost none of them will tell you that to your face because they are being polite to you and respecting your right to say what you want to in spite of their own feelings. So maybe you should take a page out of their book and show a little mutual human respect.

Except that Facebook has become a new breed of social website where people are compelled to put themselves on the website for everyone to see in a whole new, somewhat disturbing, way. It's become something far bigger than it ever had business being. I had a MySpace back in the day, but that was before every. single. person. was on the internet regularly, and it was fine. Modern (as in really modern) social websites are becoming far more personal and intrusive than I want anything to do with, which is why I left Facebook (I never wanted one in the first place, but that's not the point), and they have become so massive that other websites, like YouTube, that were never meant to be as open are beginning to shift towards that style of social media. The main reason I'm on the internet is to socialize. Be it with the communities I'm a part of on YouTube, you guys here at KHV, or any of the other forums I'm on, socializing is what drives it all. However when the the core of the websites I go to socialize on are being changed to something I hate and there's nothing I can do about it, yeah, I'm not going to like it, and I'm going to be vocal about it. The difference between things like Facebook and forums, as we're familiar with, are that forums are created to bring people with a common interest together. Facebook's not like that, there's an inherent difference between Facebook and KHV. So yeah, he has a valid point, but it's not a sound one.

First, his point really isn't valid, since this whole situation belies the trend towards the destruction on anonymity. Anonymity is equality. You can't be judged based on who you are if you have no name, you can only be judged on what you say and what you do. When you link together accounts and make everything personalized, you lose that. You make all of those things that people can prejudge you on a factor again. Would you have even talked to me if you knew I was a forty year old black man from New Jersey when we first met? What if I was older? What if I had a criminal record? When you kill anonymity, you make that the stuff that matters and the things we say become secondary. To a certain extent we have that in our handles because the history of the site forges a persistent identity, but it's still not as bad. My point is, it's not frivolous to value the thing that makes the internet special. It's not frivolous to value the only reason why I know any of you.

I don't really see how it could since it was just a refresher. He's already aware that he has his share of detractors, what matters here is that he understands that he's being WORSE THAN THEM right now.

But the point of social sites IS to get yourself known, NOT remain an anonymity on the Internet; therefore, my point is valid.

He's complaining about youtube, which is NOT a social networking site.

I also would like to point out that you're wrong. A social networking site is actually supposed to be an easier way to COMMUNICATE with your FRIENDS, not an easier way for BUSINESS to MAKE MONEY off of you.

People complaining about the content, using capital letters as a means to make their point more valid and saying how change is making things worse then things were.
This thread is Youtube comments in a nutshell.
When does the argument about America being the best, or religious debate begin?

YouTube *is* a social networking site, though, just not as much as things like Facebook.

I never said anything about making it easier for businesses to make money, I said social sites are about revealing yourself, to a certain extent, of course. Don't post nudes, give out super personal info (like your bank account PIN), etc.

Youtube is a video hosting site.

Guess what, that's what revealing information about yourself does. Data mining is a real thing that people use to predict your actions and control them with feedback. The whole point of integrating you personal identity for them is to make data mining easier. So even though you didn't say that it's what comes of it.
