I just saw The Last Airbender...

Biggest disappointment of my life.

Aang(pronounced Aahng) sounds like a total derp. Also, he's not the Avatar, he's the Ahvatar. Zuko and General Xiao are full blown Hindu, as is Ozai(who also has extremely short hair and doesn't have his Fire Crown.) Iroh is a tall white man with black hair(as opposed to short, fat, balding and gray hair.) The firebenders can't just create fire out of thin air like in the series, they can only manipulate it. Iroh is the only one who can just create it. The movie completely SKIPPED OMASHU!! Aang says he grew up at the Southern Air Temple(which is right), but trained at the Northern Air Temple. Sokka(pronounced Soh-ka) and Princess Yui fall in love at first sight, not when he protects her from the Fire Nation. Oh, I forgot to mention that they don't have the Kyoshi warriors when they go to Kyoshi. Monk Kyatsu(spelling?) is a young black man. Oh, and Iroh's name is pronounced ee-roh. Aang doesn't turn into a giant Spirit Fish at the end, he just makes a fucking wall of water and gently eases it down. The Fire Nation soldiers bow down and accept him as the Avatar. Oh, and Zuko isn't challenged to Agni Kai. It's called Agni Ki, now.

I give it a .5 out of 5. Absolutely goddamn horrible. All he had to do was adapt the series to film. I honestly don't suggest this movie to anyone. I counted how many people walked out. I saw 17 people walk out in the first hour. That bad. Watch at your own risk, guys and gals.

 

Really?! Soh-ka?! C'mon, he made them white! Stay with the pronunciation, M. Night Shyamalan!!

 

It was just so awful. It wasn't worth the six bucks I paid for my ticket.

 

In that case, I shall buy popcorn and throw it at the screen, a la "The Box".

 

That'd just be wasting the popcorn after wasting your time and money. This movie is literally not even worth that.

 

I was planning on seeing it today, but after reading the reviews on Yahoo I guess M. Night lives up to his reputation on f-ing up every movie he has ever made.

 

Awww and I was really excited at this movie (even though he changed practically everything >.>)

Oh well, some things are better in cartoons .-.

 

That's the thing. It is easily possible to translate the series from cartoon to live-action movie.

 

Unless you don't have a brain like the director.
This review gives me more of a reason not to see it beside the white washing done to Aang, Sokka, and Katara. I was already aware of the changing of everyones names, but how can you get monk Kyatsu ****ed up?!

 

Was still good as a standalone movie? Like if it weren't trying (and failing) to imitate the series, would it be good?

Also, the movie progresses too quickly. They're not in someplace for more than 10 minutes in the movie. Sokka and Katara barely speak...at all. And he uses slow motion for all of their action sequences. It's just an utter piece of garbage.

 

If the movie was a piece of cooked chicken then I would guarantee that it would receive more positive reviews as that than in its current state.

 

Yeah but this piece of chicken had mold, poisonous fungi on it, and AIDS.

 

I would have preferred that over seeing my favorite animated series raped in front of my eyes.

 

I didn't really have high hopes for the movie from the start.
Name ONE animation to live action movie that DIDN'T turn out to be a piece of trash.
Weather they kept the story exactly to a T or not it probably wouldn't have been the same for most people anyway.
The beauty of animation is that anything can happen, and there is no 'reality factor' in the way.
With live action you know that the water that they are "bending" is animated, you know that people can't move fire. The reality sets in and gets in the way of the fantasy aspect.
I'll go see it, but honestly I won't be particularly disappointed if they completely botch it.
Once this was announced the you could see the disaster coming from a mile away.

 

Transformers was pretty good.
