I'm still just shocked we have some continuity going. That means the events of FF (1-3? 4?) are connected to Hyrule. Whaaaaa? And Cloud and Link exist in the same universe? What the sense make.

Nope. FFI and all the other games are independent from one another, universes included. The only exception is FFVII and FFX, where FFVII is actually a sequel to FFX. The Cetra apparently came from the planet that FFX took place on. That means Yuna might be Jenova. But that's all WMG.

 

What about XII and Tactics taking place in the same lands, or do they not count?

I've heard same universe, different cannons and different realities except for a few like Nova Crystalis, FFVII Compilation, and Ivalice. Though FFII issss a direct sequel to FFI, if I'm not mistaken.

No it isn't sort of at all, the spell they cast rewrites their reality, no dreams involved.

And i'm only part way through A2, but it seems the book is a teleportation system that took Luso to Ivalice.

 

I actually had a theory that there were two continuities that led to different games. In particular, FFI led to either FFII or FFIV, then II led to III, V, VI, IX (probably but not necessarily in that order), while IV led to XII, VIII, X, VII, and XIII. It's all based on genre themes (sci-fi vs fantasy) and how common airships are in each game as well as the connection between X and VII. In particular, the two continuities branched off based on the condition of the airship outside the Chaos Temple "after" the final battle with Chaos/Garland. In one continuity it gets thoroughly destroyed and thus is rebuilt and reverse engineered rather slowly, leading to more magic based technology. In the other continuity, the airship was mostly intact and reverse engineered in a matter of years, making Corneria the technological capital of the world. Years later, the FFIV branch begins. There's also a yet to be explored continuity where the Warriors of Light landed the airship somewhere other than their destination and sailed and/or walked to the Chaos Temple.

I was really grasping at straws through most of it, though.

I really gotta finish playing those games.

 

I remain a huge fan of the Legend of Zelda franchise.
