I just encountered my first Shiny Pokémon

They're mostly the same, but people trade rare and usually unobtainable Pokémon for them.

 

It's purely for looks, and they used to be slightly stronger because of the way the game decided if it was shiny or not, though that's no longer the case.
They're just rare. You have a 1 in 8000 or less chance of a wild Pokémon being shiny when you encounter it.

Also, they had perfect IVs in Gen I.

My first shiny was a Graveler. I'm still not sure how to feel about this.

I've never had a legit shiny.
And I've been playing since the Gold days.

Oh well, hopefully my nostalgia run of Ruby will change that.

 

Shiny Flygon may have a fugly as **** color scheme, but it's a good Pokémon.
