So I was having a simple conversation with one of my "friends" ... Reason why I use quotation is because they aren't really a friend. We have no similar interests and they are basically there for someone to talk to. I know, sounds awful, but it really is a two way street. Well anyways ... We were talking about music and she asked if I liked Skillet. My response was "Yea, sure!" I mean, I am not a super nerd of the band, but I listen to their music and I like it. Well her response made me want to blow my freaking brains out ... If there was anything left.

"Oh really? Me too! Skillet makes great dubstep!"

So that completely ruined my day ... What about you?

    >implying you have to have similar interests to be friends
    >implying that what you have isn't a friendship

So you lost faith in your "friend" over a differing opinion in music?

I'm sure it's never happened before.

Yeah the friends having no similar interest part will be the main focus in this thread.
Yeah that's kinda bad thinking that way.......

I never could understand how someone can be friends with someone else of differing religious beliefs; there would just be too many disagreements. Let alone differing taste in music, which is much more important and essential in a relationship. /sarcasm

I want you to save this thread okay? Save it in your favorites.
Then I want you to come back to it in three years. No more no less.
Then, when you come back and visit this thread, tell me what you think about what you posted.

    Trust me, I'VE BEEN THERE.

I'm not sure where you're getting that they have different religious beliefs. Yes, Skillet is a Christian band, but they actually have a number of fans who are either from different faiths or just non believers.

And that simply comes down to tolerance of what the other person believes. You don't always have to get into discussion/debates about faith. I mean, this site centers around Kingdom Hearts, be we have people from different backgrounds and faiths coming all together to discuss the game and other similarities.

Not sure if this part was sarcasm or not, but my girlfriend is a devout Christian and I'm an outspoken Atheist. We get along perfectly. It's her parents and I that don't get along.

And I'm a Catholic! THE TWO OF US ARE BEST FRIENDS. Even though Bueno eats babies because that's what evil Atheists do.

So glad my point got off so well.

I was trying to be fun and picked something that might be important, something someone might want to know about a person off the bat. And the point I was trying to get at, is yes, it's pointless. I was not aware Skillet is a Christian band.

It was all sarcasm. And I think that's wonderful. (Not the parents part.)

    That's a redundant phrase.

    And this is significant why?

If this person isn't a true friend like you say, you have no reason to care. Or, if this person is not a true friend because of the mistake, you are the one who has problems.

Either way an honest mistake is no reason to "lose all faith."

I think you're taking this too seriously. It may just be an expression used at the disbelief that a)her(?) friend mixed up Skillet with Skrillex or b)they don't know what dubstep is.

Honestly, I'm just posting because this thread is about losing faith and we're going over my Atheism now.

Okay, so we get to the consensus that religious beliefs and interests don't matter, then we try to gather those with the same beliefs as us in order to bask in our own greatness.

Most of my friends are like that sometimes. Mistaking some band/singer/group on a different genre. (Is what I've said correct?)
