Well, first of all, thanks for clicking here.
Second, I only have a couple questions, and I hope you can/are willing to answer them.
First, I've noticed that the Battle of Tours is exactly one hundred years after the death of Mohamed. Is this significant in any way, or is it believed to be a coincidence?
Second, what are the Muslim views on abortion? I know that this may differ between different sects.
Thirldly, why is the Muslim holy day on Friday? There must be something significant about it, but I'd just like to know what.
Finally, why is the name of the Islam god Allah? I mean, he's basically the same god that Christians (Like myself) and Jews worship, right?

I would really appreciate if any Muslim members would answer these questions, especially the first one. I'm very interested in Islam right now because we're studying it in Western Civ.

We call god Allah because that's what's said in our holy book
And idk about our views on abortions; i'll get back to you w/ more things

    Okay, thanks! :D
To be honest, I thought that there would be some deeper reason behind God being called Allah. Oh well, I guess some things are a lot simpler than they seem.
Keep in mind, I'm especially interested in the first one.

I'm not Muslim and I can answer some of those questions.

    1. Probably a really weird coincidence. I don't see how they could've planned that.

    2. They're probably against it, but I can't say for sure.

    3. No idea. Probably the same reason Jews have it on Saturday and Christians on Sunday; it just is.

    4. Allah translates to "God" in Arabic. They refer to him by an Arabic name because the Quran was written in Arabic, and Arabic is the language of Muslim worship.

Also, God is not called simply called "God" in either the Christian or Jewish religions. God's name in Hebrew is Yahweh

I know, but don't Jews still call him "God" because saying Yahweh is disrespectful?

    I`m a Muslim.

I`m sorry, but I don`t know the answer to this.

I`m pretty sure that`s considered haarum (forbidden) in Arab culture.

You mean when we pray? Because every Friday it`s considered Eid (a celebration thing) so we have to pray.

It`s technically the same thing, but the Qu`ran (the holy book for Islam) says we should call him that.

I'm a Muslim but i can't answer the first one so i'll start with the second one

2-Muslims aren't all against abortion ..just the one's when you have a perfectly healthy baby .
but if she were raped and got pregnant she has a choice either to drop the baby or keep it,and she can drop the baby if it's not healthy other than that it's not legal

3-cause judgment day is said to be on Friday so people are mostly afraid of that day so people at that day more charity and pray more (and also Friday is like eid to most Muslims)

4- well Allah is the name of god (actually one of them ) and the English translation is god
the Muslims ,Jews,Christians, all worship the same god but they differ in there beliefs

it doesn't matter if a muslims says (as an example) in the name of god or in the name of Allah(Better) there all the same but it's better to take your own language

Pardon my correction, but God's name in Hebrew in Ehloheim. But when spoken of in English, he is called God, or G-d when written down so if erased, it doesn't count as a sin because it isn't written in full. But only in Christianity is God called "God."

God's most sacred name in Hebrew is YHWH, but no one is sure how that is actually pronounced because it was never written with vowel marks. (Hebrew uses an abjad script, so it has no vowels.) Elohim simply means "God", so you're partly correct.

I know. I speak Hebrew. It was a mistake on my behalf for not explaining it throughly.

I thought Hebrew for God was Jehovah?

And I guess BoT will just remain a mystery. The reason I mentioned it is because it's possible that the Moors (Muslims of Spain) believed the defeat to be because it was the 100 year anniversary of Mohamed's death. I mean, if it was me, I wouldn't have thought it a coincidence. But that's me. Oh well.

Oh, and I had no idea that Friday is believed to be the day the world will end. That's so interesting.

    1. Sorry, レッツ・シェイク. Didn't know you spoke it. My bad.

    2. Jehovah is a mistranslation of YHWH. (I'm sorry if anyone's offended by my posting the name). The name was written with the vowels of the word Adonai, which means Lord, so that when the Torah was read aloud, the reader would remember to pronounce YHWH as Adonai. When non-Jews read the Torah, they thought that YHWH+Adonai's vowels was one word, which they pronounced as "Jehovah", a nonexistent word.

    Yeah.

But we're getting a little off topic, aren't we?
