I got a summer job...

So...does anyone have advice for how to handle young kids?

I mean like if they start crying for no reason...I'm not all that good at talking with younger children...

Wow I am perfect for this, I work for the YMCA as a childcare teacher, so what age group are you working with, cause it varies.

Since I'm only 14, it'd probably be...6 or 7 year olds.
I don't think they'd make me be a conselor for people my age.

Hmm...always be super-interested in whatever they're doing and NEVER EVER let them back you into a corner.

Ok...so that is like kinder and first grade. With these kids you can't be to harss, and talking with their parents helps alot. But you have to be really calm and patient, get down to their level and just talk to them softly unless it is something really bad. Oh and explain....if you say stop they do not know what they are doing wrong. Anything else?

 

heres what you do. go to a pawn shop and buy a bunch of cheap disney kid videos. i sugessest the disney sing alongs. it will keep them quiet too.

 

I say let them burn outside in the heat. Lol well thats what they do to the kids in summer recreation here. I used to work as one of the people that took care of the kids.

 

Yea not that easy...trust me. They will find a way to piss you off.

 

Try to teach them how to play with their toys, and not piss you off, cuz the first thing they have in mind is that.

 

Just improvise, watching kids is not hard at all.
If they start to cry either ask them what is wrong/comfort them/start playing with them/ice cream can be good help.
Stuff like that. Not hard at all XD
