I get a feeling ...

That life is like a big experiment and God or someone is just standing there watching us . You know like in the game the Sims or something .

So like the earth is in a big huge testube or something and if us humans make a big mistake , God will clear the board again and start over .


God may be just a guy in a lab coat , watching our every move . Writing down notes and observing things .

I used to have the same kind of feeling when I was little...like maybe our universe was really just a fishbowl for a higher being of some sort, and they wouldn't intervene...just watch. I always thought of it as kinda creepy.

The scary thing is, it's actually plausible. It's creepy that we may be the sick experiment of a divine scientist.

It does sound interesting, not scary. It sounds almost like deism, without the scientist aspect of it.

Have you watched the Truman Show? About this guy who's in a TV Show, it kind of makes you think about if you are in a actual TV Show aswell but it's not scary.

 

That idea has already been tackled in the form of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy; that the the Earth is a huge computer that is big enough to be a planet, and that it's a huge experiment to find the Ultimate Question (the answer of which is 42).

It's kind of a scary thought for me too.
Sure, I'm Christian, but just the thought of someone you can't see watching your every move, and can hear all of your thoughts?
And if you mess up on one thing, and do something he wouldn't like, you can get sent to a horrible, evil place for all eternity?
Not scary at all, nope.
You just have to do good and not bad.

I think I'm just saying like...you should believe that, even if there is a person in the sky watching over us, that he won't laugh at us or anything, he won't insult or make fun of us either.
He may get angry with you, if you do something he doesn't like.
He may forgive you, or he may not. Depends on the situation.
But, we're the same way. Would you forgive your husband if he cheated on you with a rattlesnake and had panda babies with it?

He doesn't exactly control WHAT we do, he just creates us, and puts us out in the real world, to see what decisions we'll make.
I mean really, would he really create a person that would not choose him, but the devil?

 

This is a thought, amongst many others, that people have to explain our lives and that which we don't understand. I can say at times I had pondered this myself and didn't like how it felt really to think that some greater being was up there playing around and that we were just in some fishbowl on a shelf being monitored constantly. I really don't 'know' if there are greater beings, or aliens, etc so until I do, I don't let it get to me really. I also don't really fear the unknown or death etc so I'm not a religious person in that way. I can't 'disprove' there isn't some person playing experiments on us, but at the same time I can't prove it either so I just go on living and really, those feelings kind of died out with just understanding that there are many other things to ask and deal with in this life.

There are many movies, books etc based on the idea though that there is a greater force out there that we are just experiments for, whether people make them 'religious' or science fiction sorts of things. Even stuff like the Matrix, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, some alien stuff like in the X-Files etc. We humans think of the coolest or most bizarre stuff.

 

I read in a novel of the concept that we are all living in a computer generated simulation and that the universe would end when that simulation stopped.

As for your idea, it is another one of those 'we will never know' questions. Unless said observer made him/herself known to us, there is no way to prove or disprove that theory.

I think that that idea is rather disturbing in that having someone watch everything you do, making records as you go, is quite disconcerting =/ Also, the fact that if this was true nothing we did would ever matter..........

 

"Life is a school for angels. Love is the Teacher, so do your homework without fear. Death is mearly Graduation" I saw that on a coffee cup once, it made me think. i mean if you believe in God and Heaven, then this statement can be true...and I think it fits well as an answer to your thoughts.

 

That stuff is not good to talk about.

 

No one actually knows If God Is true or not
No one knows If the bible Is just something to trick us
No one knows what will happen when you die

But what we DO know Is to live life and not worry

Yes Ive thought about this many times, but why bother? No one will know the answer because all questions need to be put Into one question for God, or whoever, to answer.
I believe the meaning of life Is what you want It to be.

So don't worry and don't be scared If life Is just a creation made by god and hes a scientist, because you will never actually know for sure
