...But I would LOVE a Trigun/Evangelion Crossover sometime in the future.

They're entirely different genres, and any elements they share are purely aesthetic.
I'm not sure why you want this.

Think about it. Plants in the Trigun Manga series, like Vash for example, have unbelievable powers. It could be possible Vash wanted to save someone that was killed, ripping a hole to another world in the process.

This is not in the anime, it's in the manga Trigun Maximum.

I don't see how that has anything to do with its plausibility as a crossover.

Haven't both of those been over for over five years?

Arguable. Evangelion has the Rebuild series ongoing, so as a whole it could be counted as still going.

Just watched Evangelion last week and wasn't pleased.

I think I'm done with anime. My tastes have gradually changed, I don't really like the way anime generally tells stories anymore. There are some exceptions, but for the most part I'm over it.

Because if they've both been over for that long, then there probably isn't a "sometime in the future" for them.

Understandable, though in some ways Evangelion is indeed a bit dated, being from the 1990s and all, so barring a few unique factors and minor changes (assuming you watched Rebuild) there are a few modern works which have shifted in their storytelling. Then again,

Perhaps you have simply achieved your personal revelation of Sturgeon's Law.

I didn't watch Rebuild. I wanted to watch it in its original form.
I may have, nowadays I'm more often disappointed with things than not, though if you ask me my tastes have just changed or matured. A few years ago I would have loved Evangelion, but now it's just not my thing.
