    Seriously.
    Whenever someone here on the forum uses useless abbreviations and whatnot here on the forums, I lose all respect whatsoever for that person.
    Ok, sure, if you need to text talk on your phone quickly, that's ok.
    But in a post on an online forum?
    Can't they at least slow down a little and type normally?
    I'm just saying, it's getting a little annoying now.

    Who is NOT annoyed by text talk? I'm fine with things like wtf, g2g, brb, ftw, or omg....but things like u, da, and gr8. Those things annoy me to death.

    Agreed the little stuff doesn't bother me. Its just when I have to take out a decoder to figure out what you are saying is when it bothers me.

    I agree, but it's out of our control.

    Delinquent typing is common culture among the various mediums of communication on the net; can't be stopped.

    Welcome to the interwebz, friend. XS

    Basic things are acceptable (ie., brb,g2g,omg, ect.). Things like "OMG NO WAI l-l/45/5t./5t.wt5wjtwt.,./mstj;lsmt./smtlsmtyjmlosmt" are just to random to be natural! *shudders* If you can read things like that like it's normal text, you may spend to much time on the internet. >.>

    I see what you're all saying.
    Things like g2g, etcetera, are totally ok. As long as someone's not over using them.
    But I've read tons of posts here that I can't understand at all.
    Even if I could understand all the abbreviations, the sentences don't make sense at all!

    I can handle stuff like, OMG, WTF, and FTW, but when it gets REALLY "1337" it literally burns my eyes. >.<;

    It doesn't take forever to spell out "You" instead of "u", people... >.>; Please be nice and spare me the headache of tryin' to understand what you're saying...

    I almost NEVER use txt talk. The ONLY txt talk I use, are BTW and WTF...which I will stop the BTW and just type that out, actually. Hell...I don't even use lol anymore...O.o;

    But seriously, I can't stand people who type like this: Hi! How r u? I fine. me. like. u. blah blah blah! Drives me CRAZY!!!

    ....I'm okay now....

    Yeah, I agree with easter's list there...only add 'lol.' They're quick and easy to use, but anything other than that makes me feel like I'm talking to a six year old.

    I don't see what the problem is, it doen't take forever to understand, "Where do u live?"

    And what makes some abbreviations different from others?

    I'm not sure, but something in my mind seperates abbreviations like 'lol' from 'idk.' It's kind of like that Cingular commercial where the girl says, "idk, my bff Jill." It just sounds wrong and like the person is uneducated.

    Some abbreviations, though, just make more sense. I mean, some things that you would say online make more sense in abbreviated forms. (For instance, you wouldn't say "What the F-" online, even though you might say "wtf." It's common curtesy.)

    Agrees. I would never actually say 'wtf' if it wasn't abbreviated. It is common curtesy! *winks*

    It is very annoying. Like when people put 'b' instead of 'be' or 'wot' instead of 'what'. I mean how long does it take to spell the word correctly? People are just lazy.
