Not especially. I think the whole 3D craze is a bit cheesy, pointless, and it's going to pass over soon enough. The 3DS just seems like a waste of money. If I was going to buy any of the newer DS's, it would be the DS Lite. That really was the last good one, imo. Edit: also, I'm moving this to General Game Chat.
This.^ I love my DSlite, it hasn't given any problems so far, I've heard that one of the very little things that can brick it is the Hinge breaking apart... Well, I'd love to see HQ games on it, but the 3D idea is pointless, I mean, how the hell do you advertise something that can't be fully appreciated on common medias?
I do! I got DSi, Im going to sell it for 3DS. Adding a 3D touch to the world of video games will not only make handheild games more fun and worth playing, but understanding the whole world your in a lot better making it something really to look foward! I can't wait for it!
I still have my original DS, it's on it's last legs, but it has survived many video games and still is in decent condition. I kinda just want to see how the 3DS works. The best thing to do would probably wait until the second model come out then buy it, at least if I get one that's what I'm going to do.
No, not really, I never really bought into that 3D gimmick. And from what I can tell you have to hold it in a pretty weird way for it to work properly, ie. you can't see the 3D if you're a little to the side from the screen. Also, the 3D gimmick makes the hardware more expensive, so it's a "do not want" kind of deal. The games are good enough without the 3D.
I'm still debating on if I want it or not. I did read that you can turn the 3D feature off. It would be cool to play a game in 3D, but it's good there is an option to turn it off. I don't know how it will be to play a game all the time in 3D.
I'm not that excited, it's just a way to make money (as most things in this world are I know) and it just seems completely pointless to bring it out as it's yet another platform we need to buy. It might turn into a fashion thing where everyone has to have one and then the 3D will just wear off really quickly, there isn't anything wrong with the current DS anyway. On the other hand, we'll never advance in technology if we don't experiment, since technology is always improving. I think the 3D effects will be awesome and so will many others and people will learn from their mistakes through manufacturing these new consoles.
I think 3d would be a good idea if it wasn't on a hand-held console, since their screens are so much smaller. Imo, it would be better for a console that hooks up to the t.v. I don't care much for the 3d in 3DS, but there are other additions, right? The screen's bigger at least?
You don't have to use the 3D function you know...there's an intensity switch. And to be honest I'd rather play Ocarina of Time on the go rather than at home, hell, some games I prefer playing on the go. And 3D TVs already exist, roxven. So it'd be pretty pointless, perhaps impossible even, to release a console that displays 3D, since in both the case of the TV and DS it's the screen itself that makes it 3D. Even then the 3D TVs need glasses, whereas the 3DS doesn't. I'm actually really excited for this, partly because of the jump in technology (since I started playing GB games on the original black & white system) and partly because of the games that are coming out with it. OoT, Starfox, Kid Icarus, a TON of games that haven't seen the light of day in a loooong time.
Meh...I'm pretty indifferent to the whole 3Ds thing. It sounds like an interesting concept, but I agree that it is mainly jumping on the 3D bandwagon. I'll probably hold out on getting it (because you can be sure a newer version will come out soon after...). But we'll just have to see how it handles.
Hmm I just wonder how this system is going to look and operate if I happend to get a hold of it for myself; I may get buy it, it really depends because graphics don't necessarily make a game. Like really... I still play 8-bit classic Mario from wayy back. :] I like the idea though that you can turn the 3D off but I can just play on my regular DS for that :?
A bit, depending on the price of it and how many games I'm actually going to be interested in are going to come out for it. Old-style DS ftw, even though I rarely use it.
Not many of us want to buy a 3d tv tho. :\ And your tv/ game screen doesn't necessarily have to be made to produce 3d images. I've seen commercials on t.v. (a while ago) promoting 3d movies that were actually 3d. (but of course, they expected you to wear the glasses) And my t.v.'s not 3d.
I think some of you are forgetting that the 3DS is a whole new console... not just another DS. So they'll stop making games for the regular DS, and all your systems you say you're content with will be obsolete :> that alone makes me want this thing, because it's going to replace what we already have. I don't really care too much about the 3D gimmick (though it does sound cool), but I'm excited that this thing has a joystick (finally! though i don't see why there couldn't be two), graphics on par with the Gamecube, a remake of OoT, and a gameboy virtual console! Plus all the other stuff like taking pictures and having them instantly converted into Miis, tag mode, all the new games, and so on. And the color scheme. I hated the Matte of the DSi, and this thing will be turquoise AND black, so I won't have to choose <3 I'm definitely selling my DSi for this. pretty much this
I am and I can already tell it's gonna have a pretty big impact in Glasses-less 3D gaming from here on out. I've seen articles about it and so far it looks pretty impressive. The $300 price tag will hurt quite a bit but I just wanna get my hands on the games like Kid Icarius, KH3D (you know you saw that one coming), Professor Layton and the City of Miracle, and many others.
I'm not to big on the whole idea, but this reminds me of myself years ago when the DS came out, "Two screens? That is confusing. How can people play with it?" Of course I was proven wrong when I got it myself. So I will find myself buying a 3DS sooner or later, But if I were to dwell into the gaming circle and willing to pay 300 bucks I would honestly spend it on a PS3 or an Xbox360 than a 3DS. Also right now the 3DS seems to have alot of hot titles coming out with it (Kid Icarus: Uprising, KH3D, LoZ: Ocarina of Time, SMT: Persona, Nintendogs x Cats, etc) But what about a year or so after the hot titles are released? Will it have that same dryspell as the DS did? Again I will wait for a year or two to buy the 3DS or until the 2nd model comes out/reduced price. I will lol if this ends up like Virtual Boy.
However, the thing is that even if you have the option to turn off the 3D you still have to pay for it, and the thing does make the handheld fairly expensive. I really don't like gimmicks that raise the price by a lot, but as we all know everyone and their grandma will buy this thing in bundles, Nintendo just has that good hold on the handheld market. And I don't like it when a system's best games are re-releases of an already existing games, I'd rather spend my money on new great games than games I've already played. However, I can see why people like it, nostalgia is a pretty great thing at times. It's going to be interesting to see if the 3DS can live up to the amazing popularity of the DS.
