I am about to watch episode 1 of Doctor Who

I don't really understand why people don't like Rose and Martha. They're better than Amy and a pile of sticks would be better than River.

 

Meh, opinions. Rose was alright to me -- didn't love her, but didn't hate her either -- but Martha was utterly ruined with the

unrequited love. It was less of an "oh, this guy can show me other worlds and we're having a great time" and more of an "oh, this guy is amazing and he's hot and I love him but he doesn't love me, WAAAH."

River's storyline itself is tragic, she as a character has, well, character, and Amy is pretty alright, though again I don't feel strongly either way.

 

River is a Sue. She doesn't work within the show the way she should. Her initial appearance was very strong but they borked it all up later. Done.
Martha was blander than the others but still rather inoffensive. Amy was okay. Rose was okay but a level up from Amy. Donna Noble took time to get used to but I ended up liking her best.

 

While I do agree her first appearance was definitely her strongest, Alex Kingston has her moments that sort of broke my heart later on. Sure there were episodes where she didn't feel as important as she ends up being but at times, especially in the S7 finale, she leaves her mark as Moffat first intended.
While I may disagree with Rose being better than Amy, I did adore Donna. Everyone always loves Donna.

 

River song is the reason I no longer watch the show. I didn't even make it that far because I hate her.

I hated Donna at first. But then she was okay then I watched her show.

 

Ouch. Well, S7 as a whole was somewhat underwhelming, so I suppose you didn't miss much. Still, I'd definitely recommend that you at least watch "Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS." Without a doubt, one of the best episodes of S7, no River, and a standalone (as all S7 episodes were, but regardless I found it to be great).

You mean The Catherine Tate Show? I've seen bits and pieces but haven't gotten around to watching whole episodes.

 

It's fine. I was never as into Who as my family and they quit not long after me as well so I don't have a reason to watch it anymore.

Catharine Tate Show though, that **** is brilliant. I don't like being one of those people who references **** all the time but I can't help it. I just can't, Not bothered too strong,

 

Yeah, my family is considering quitting after Matt Smith leaves at Christmas (I got my mom into it and my dad's been watching since before I was a thought), but I'm sticking with it.

I liked Rose, and think she's a very strong character. She's just not my favorite.
Jack Harkness is a riot and I'm disappointed he hasn't been around the past few years.
Martha was whiny and I didn't like her except in Gridlock and the S3 finale.
We've all already agreed Donna is the best ever.
I agree with Jiku on River, she started out awesome and got worse the more Moffat f*cked around with her. I didn't mind her in S5, but GUH S6 GO AWAY RIVER. I will admit though, I cried at the end of the S7 finale. Alex Kingston on her own is a brilliant actress, she just wasn't give much to work with with River.
I'm not ashamed to admit I adored Amy. I'm glad she's taken her leave, though, as she had, by S7, outstayed herself.
Rory is amazing.
Clara's okay, but I feel like I haven't seen enough of her to make an opinion yet? Which is bad because she had half the goddamn season devoted to her.

In short, Moffat's a talented writer, but he sucks as a showruner. I'm hoping he'll leave DW with Matt Smith and just focus on Sherlock, which is where he seems to shine a bit better.

 

First thought when reading the title, "Does she mean like first first or just first?" lol

You know what's weird? Seeing a thread get hijacked with Doctor Who about Doctor Who by Cat~ and Ienzo is nowhere to be seen. Something's wrong. Something is really wrong.

I do appear to have missed a lot in the past few days, all this revision, exmas and Hen parties! WOOO!

Anyway, go you Lord God! I do hope you get into it, I do basically love everything about Doctor Who, all the characters, all the episodes and everything O.o so I will be incredibly bias (of course, some episodes are way better then others etc.). I think episode 4 and 5 are alright but Dalek is possibly when the season starts getting amazing, the rest of the series is much better than the first 5 episodes and was a brilliant start to New Who. Of course, series 2 is better is my opinion because I prefer David Tennant and it was my first one xD

I personally quite like Rose, I loved her story and found it very sad- she keeps coming back though xD I don't mind but I like the finality of a companion leaving, cameos are cool but it's also good to say goodbye for good.
