Is how my "adventure" today ended.

My parents have this computer that's a piece of **** that barely works, you have to hold in the charger or it dies, it freezes every second, and that type of stuff. A couple months ago my mom told me that it was broken but she didn't tell me how or why, and I never payed it any thought... until today.

Now, you may remember my call-out thread to Funimation, and how for whatever my favorite sub group stopped hosting some of their stuff on their site because it had been "Re-licensed by Funimation." Whatever that means. My first reaction was that they were gone, there was no hope, and I should get over it. But that wasn't good enough for me.

Because of this I have been searching the far reaches of the internet (page 5 of google search wtf i shouldn't have to go that far) for things that I had once had, but deleted because I wanted to keep the free space on my hard drive above 400gb. Don't ask why, because I don't have an answer other than I'm finicky like that. I had reached the limit of my patience and interest and was about to give up until I remembered that piece of **** computer that my parents had. Yes, that computer that was supposedly broken.

I got this computer that I'm using now in June 2012, and my computer before that had broken in January of the same year. In the months between I had been using the then-not-broken computer whenever I could, and because of this it had many of my files on it, many of which included the files I had deleted to conserve space that had also been deleted from the groups website. When I got this computer I began transferring files over, but never deleted them for whatever reason. So there was my chance. If I could access those files, I may be able to gain access to the files that had been deleted from the website because of Funimation that I had once had.

I went downstairs, found the computer, turned it on, and to my dismay it said that system32/config had become corrupted. "Game over", I thought. I went back upstairs with a hanging head and a sinking heart (I'm quite the poet, aren't I?) fully prepared to give up. After a while of playing some games and stuff my disappointment was beginning to annoy me. I couldn't stand not having my way, so I decided I would do whatever it took to try and fix the computer to see if the files were even still there. It had been much more than a year so I had no idea what the state of my stuff would be.

So I set out on my journey. I began researching and downloading and researching and downloading and researching and deleting and more deleting and more downloading and more researching and installing and uninstalling and more researching and eventually I found what I thought could be a potential fix. Now, before I go any farther I want to make sure you understand how incredibly bad my luck with technology is. I was almost certain that this wouldn't work for me, for whatever reason, despite it apparently working for other people. So with my fingers crossed I began the procedure. And it failed. To be more precise, I couldn't even get to where I needed to be to begin. So I did more research. Now I was where I needed to be. I began moving files and carefully following the instructions and when I was done, I rebooted.

    Moment of truth.

Will it work, or will I have wasted all afternoon and return to google searching all the way to page six this time? (I prayed I would never have to endure such unspeakable horrors.)

The light turned on. I could hear stuff moving. In seconds I would now if I had succeeded.

    And......

    I did.

I ****ing did it. I could not believe it. Not only had my bad luck with technology not been in effect today, but I managed to revive a computer assumed dead. I'm like a miracle worker or something. Anyone could have done what I did to fix it, but the fact that something actually worked for me this time left me speechless.

So I went to the place I had kept my files praying they would still be there, and when I saw that my folder was still there I began navigating to where I had left the torrent files to see if they were still there as well.

And holy **** they were. The files that I could not find were where I had left them. My luck had payed off twice today. Not only did I manage to fix the computer, but my files were still there as well.

So I transferred them to my computer and in the process of doing so it occurred to me, if the website I had downloaded it deleted it, and the other torrent sites had as well, would they even work? My knowledge of torrents is not much so this may be a no-brained to some people, but as for me I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see if they would work.

And the first one I tried...

    didn't work.

My heart sank again. I thought my luck had run out and that I had indeed done all of this for nothing.

Well, as it turns out, page seven of google search actually may have some valuable stuff. I found what the first file could not provide me with somewhere else. As well as the other things that I could not find.

So out of curiosity I began testing the other files to see if they would work, and they did. I don't know how to explain it. Maybe you could, but frankly I don't care at the moment.

So in the end I didn't really need the files, but I did succeed in fixing my parents computer for them, and I had quite the adventure. All in all, I enjoyed it. I had a good time with good fortune so I can't say it was all for nothing, I did learn a few valuable lessons after all.

    1. Do not delete anything you may want in the future or may think you may want in the future because it could be damn near impossible to find by the time you want it again.
    2. Do not be afraid to go as far as page six of google search.
    3. Finally, don't give up on something you want. If there seems to be no way to have your way, make a way. Unless there is absolute no way.

Well, now that that's over time to dl Akito the Exiled. I didn't care about this until earlier today because I have been fangirling about Code Geass pretty hard these past few days. Oh my god it's so amazing.

And I have quite the headache now after typing in the dark. In fact, I'm sure I'll regret it in the morning, but I'm going to not proof-read this in favor of not killing my head any longer.

I'm saying that the one I said was long was a broken down response to everything I said, where this is a story.

My guess is, a frequent amount, ranging from 1-4 times a month.
