except they're extremely impractical and always have been
even i, a person who chooses strategies and types based on the look of the cards, wouldn't play with them.

Exactly. You could make a Djinn deck and splash some of the better Rituals in there—most likely Dark ones, maybe with some Lights for some Chaos shenanigans—but that doesn't seem very fun. Gishkis are a fun, competitive, and freakin' awesome-looking theme that effectively utilizes and recycles Ritual Spells and Monsters, but I wish Rituals as a whole were more playable.

I was skeptic about XYZs then Evilswarm happened. Maybe it's bias because I really enjoyed Steelswam and OUROBOROS.

That being said, Pendulum cards DO seem a little convulted for their own good.

Dragunity/Tech Genus the UMvC3 Vergils of Synchro-era YGO.

Now it's Elemental Dragons/Dragon Rulers is my friend's word is still valid.

Makes me wonder why bother introducing Gishkis in the Duel Terminals if they aren't going to bother to make them good. :l

Seriously Konami this isn't time to introduce new card types, you have archetypes to fix.

Yeah, I left when Konami took over. It hasn't been all bad but I feel like their method for dealing with old cards is to ignore them and release better cards until no one cares about anything else. My deck felt obsolete the moment I graduated high school.

Though I will also freely admit that I loved beat sticking. It was satisfying to spend half the duel to get out that one special card and then call checkmate and watch your opponent squirm. There were always ways out but they were temporary or required more skill, plus all the ways to counter it. Now I feel like depending on who you are versing there is either no such thing as an advantage or the duel is as good as decided by the second or third turn. At least the Dark counterparts kept me going for a bit longer (since I used a fiend deck).

Yeah, that's basically what you get with Synchros when they kept coming out with new ones and didn't ban them. My favorite are Gladiator Beasts and Holy Marked Dragons. Though I guess Stellerswarm isn't bad either.

    This what you mean

I've only pulled an OTK once, and surprisingly I hadn't planned for it. I was testing a warrior/equip deck because I had a bunch building up in my trunk, and Ben-Kei worked a lot better than I thought he would.

First off, HNNNNNG EVILSWARMS AND OUROBOROS

And fuck the Elemental Dragons, they're part of the reason I quit the game. LEMME JUST KEEP PULLING OUT OVERPOWERED BULLSHIT IN ONE TURN. STOP COMPLAINING YOU CAN USE THESE CARDS TOO.
