]: It's cool that HTML is allowed in signatures now but I think it should be allowed in posts, too.

Well its not all that necessary to have it in posts, but yeah, that'd be cool. As long as its only certain things though. People can get quite naughty with html.

How? If you're talking about the
    HTML:
     tags, it doesn't work.
    ---------
If HTML was allowed in posts, you're basically opening a hole for hackers to climb through.
I know why you'd want HTML in a post, and for that, I like this suggestion. But seeing the security risk, I'm neutral :)

I think it's a risk to allow HTML to be used in posts as I know what can be done with it. Hackers operate largely in HTML coding so think it's just opening up a can of worms to the site.

... What could a hacker possibly hack in a post. . . Nothing a mod could easily edit and delete, right? :/

@Darky: :/ Then teach me hao.

It's not really necessary...what more could you want to do besides bold, italics, underline, strikeout, font, color, and size? O_o

._. It's the same reason our signatures are now allowed with HTML.

    D: Besides, I took this quiz and the results code was all in HTML and I couldn't post it. D;

._. I still don't know how hackers could use this for evil.

Well, take that quiz result you took and wanted to paste it into your post. A hacker could use part of that code to access your personal profile. From there it's really easy to get your personal e-mail and then it goes downhill from there. Once the hacker gets your personal e-mail, they can get your address, how old your are, and any number of other information you make public on the 'net.

This is all a hypothetical situation of course but one that easily become reality if you're not careful.

It's not so much hacking, but the possiblity of embedding malware and other viruses in html.... we don't want to put some of the members at risk. We give you guys the basic tags, that's all you need.

    HTML Code: On

Turning HTML code on would be more helpful, as more people could post more links. Why having it off?

The reason that we don't allow HTML is because it can be used to manipulate and influence the site. For example, someone had at one stage a signature which changed the colour of the scroll bar, now thats harmless I know, but it can be used in other less harmless ways.

Sorry, whilst we know that the majority of people would be responsible, there are others who would not be.
