I think it was Kitty who convinced me to try drawing Aqua since there's so little screenshots of her in the news section. (damn you Square...) So today, again mostly on the bus, I practiced on drawing her. Though I have no idea what the front of her outfit looks like, I only had time to use the huge poster as reference for 5 minutes. :x

I prefer the profile of the side more than the one in front... The eyes got too meh and not aligned enough as I'd like them. Most of all the hair is what's the real challenge. Sometimes I think she looks like Terra with boobs. X3

The order I drew the hair:

1 - I started with the strands of hair next to her ears, because they're what you'll spot last.

2 - Making simple strands of hair from the left side of her forehead.

3 - The right side of the bangs I think are meant to have more hair than the left, the circle helped me keeping it to a certain area. I also let the longest strands of hair reach the ear.

4 - If you separate the head in four equal parts, this would be concentrated on the top right area. I made three lines so that I would know where the collected parts of hair would go. I think of a flower slowly dying to decide how the hair bends as you go from the top to the bottom of the head.

5 - I made sure that this part of the hair also had a bend feel to it, like a slide. It is rather long, it should at least reach about the same line as her shoulders are placed.

6 - These strands of hair can be compared to hooks, because they do this sharp bend outwards. Almost square like sometimes.

7 - A finishing touch to sort of connect the hair together so that it looks more like short hair.

I hope this makes sense... And I can't wait to see more screenshots of Aqua, IF SQUARE ACTUALY GIVES THEM OUT.

Omfg epic. There really is a disappointing lack of Aqua pictures... >_>

But anyway, the hair looks fracking amazing. You say you drew this on the bus?

Yes I did - it's been a hobby for at least two years now, to make the time pass by in a less boring way. (as odd as it may sound, it's a great form of practice - you have to draw fast and only the highest priority) Unfortunatly it was extra bumpy today. Though the front profile was drawn at home, before I had to go to tai chi practice.

It's awsome, Coco. It reminds me of when I used to draw, but I lost my sketch book. BTW, if I find some loose paper around I'm gonna try to draw Aqua.

It looks great! Your bus ride must be non-bumpy to be able to draw that on it.

    Oh, the bus ride wasn't non bumpy... but it lasted long enough. :> Usually I do boredom sketches such as this one with ballpoint pen, but it broke.. ;.;

You guys should try the same! It's good practice imo.

For doing that on a bus, I commend you...
Very nice work, the facial shading is the best aspect-
Good work on the hair too; I'd just like to see more!
