After reading that, I don't think I could really handle a lucid dream. Like I said, I already know when I'm dreaming cause there are a lot of things that give it away. How can I say this...I know I'm dreaming...but my brain doesn't want to register it. Kind of like that.
The only kind of control I have over my dreams is...when I have a vivid dream, I'm usually talking to friends or family. But one thing I know about myself, is that I tend to sleep talk sometimes. It's not often. So in my dreams, when people are talking or when I'm talking, nothing comes out. No words, no noise. Nothing. I think this is because I'm trying to prevent myself from sleep talking again cause the first and second time it happened, I scared myself awake.
Other than that, I have no control at all. I can't even wake myself up sometimes, and that's the scary part for me. I could be having the worst nightmare ever, example: I had a dream that my little sister passed away and I cried in my dreams. I tried to wake myself up, but couldn't and when I did wake up, I woke up already crying. That would be one thing that I would love to learn to do. I hate the fact that I can't wake myself up like other people. This scares my best friend/brother too cause he thinks that it might be a bad thing.

Mmm, I can see how that might be a problem. It sounds like you need to question your reality more, or care more about whether or not you are dreaming. I wake myself up by refusing to accept what is happening or convincing myself that it must be a dream because it is unacceptable. I essentially decide that I will reject the current reality and substitute my own. I am not sure what sort of advice to give to strengthen your ability to reject reality, but that is what I do. Try recording your dreams and getting a feel for them like I said before. Maybe you will learn something from it on top of the usual progress.

Confidence is key when it comes to things like this, so keep your chin up. They are all in your mind, after all.

Well, it was tricky to figure out, it would be just as tricky to explain. It' s like trying to find the right mental switch, kinda like "how do I move this muscle ?". The first few times I did it I closed my eyes in the dream. I could still feel what was "happening" to me, but bringing everything to pitch black helped me to concentrate on waking up instead.

Oh, yeah, I did that too. I closed my eyes and concentrated on rejecting what was happening. Instead of changing the dream, I woke up. Good enough?

Yeah, the advice you're both giving is quite helpful. But knowing that I have to teach myself to reject what's happening in a dream...that could take some time.
But I'll do what you adviced, Makaze. I'll start writing down the dreams I can remember. That might be a small journal since half of the time I can never remember my dreams. But I feel like trying to teach myself to wake up would be the same as trying to have a lucid dream...

I have never (to my memory) had a lucid dream, but I dream often, though despite the fact that strange, impossible, and random things happen in my dreams, durring the dream it seems perfectly normal to me.
    Example:
Over my trip this weekend I was with a bunch of people from my church in a cabin in the mountains (ooohhh... scary! XD).
    Anyway, I had this dream:
I was at my highschool, hanging out by the front gates, the peeling blue paint on the twenty foot tall gates sticking out to me vividly for some reason. I stared at the closed gates for what seemed like hours, then they opened, and in a flash, what had been an empty, trash-stained campus was suddenly alive with activity, blurred forms rushed by me, the sun crept higher into the sky, and then suddenly everything snapped back into focus, time moved the way it was supposed to move.

My friends Juice and his sister, Vanessa were there, which was really strange, because they don't go to my school, but I didn't notice it at the time. Anyway we were just there, hanging out by the main gate, talking about how much homework my chemisty teacher assigned the night before, when we hear screaming. Looking up I saw zombies walking in the front gate, I think it was five, but it might have been four, these were Night of the Living Dead style zombies, no rotting tissues, just some darkening around the eyes and paleness to the skin, and one of them had blood on its mouth, but that was because it had just bitten someone, who was now turning into a zombie as well. I think it was this guy named Vance, but I'm not sure. All I remember is that Vanessa and Juice didn't want to run, and I had to pull them behind me as people ran away, into the middle of the school. Once we got there it was strange, everyone, including me just hung out and was like 'whatever' occassionally glancing up at the slow moving group of zombies (about twenty, now that they got a few of the students), and even weirder was that there were people just hanging out over there, going to their lockers, not seeming to notice the zombies until they or one of the people near them got bitten by a zombie.
About five minutes later I snapped back to reality and was like 'holy crap, JUICE!' because a zombie was walking towards Juice, and I grabbed him and Vanessa again and dragged them away through the crowd of people until they started running with me, and we ran into the math and science building, where there was like... nobody, except for a few random people from the school, anyway, we ran into my biology room from last year, but the person who was in there was my crazy chemistry teacher, a short, bald, slightly overweight, and mustached asian man in his mid thirties, wearing a button-up shirt, tie, and brown slacks. He was being his normal self, shouting things like 'Slow Pandas Die Fast!' and 'Pervnerts, not Perverts!', and slapping desks where sleeping people were sitting, aside from that the room was empty. We could hear screaming from outside in the hall now, and Juice slammed the door behind us.
After that the chemistry teacher turned to us and we explained everything that was going on, all the people on the desks by then, had gotten up and ran out the way that we had come in. Then the Chemistry teacher was like 'oh, yeah, the zombies were comming today, we'rent they?' and then he snapped his finger and all of a sudden there was a back door out of the room, like, there wasn't any *pops* or smoke clouds, it was just suddenly there, so, the Chemistry teacher ran out there, and we followed him, and the door had lead outside, the back way to the school, we could see screaming people trying to climb over the big back gate, and being dragged back down by what was now a zombie army. then the door we left the school through dissapeared, like it just turned back into a wall, and we were like 'whoa', and then we turned and ran accross the street after my chemistry teacher.
My chemistry teacher was all like, 'I should have gone back there and gotten bitten just so I could eat you!' and I was like 'this is no time for jokes,' and he was like, 'oh, right,' then we just ran into the neighborhood behind the school, and there was a big explosion behind us, like a nuclear blast veiwed from far away, except we were only about a quarter mile from the school.

And quite literally that's when I woke up, and it was morning, and everyone else in the cabin was getting breakfast.

(And no, my friend's real name is not 'Juice', but that's his nickname and we call him that most of the time.)

I've had two dreams like this, the first someone was after me and I couldn't get away, no matter where I ran they were there waiting, at one point, just as he was about to get me, I half woke up and I could hear myself say 'No I want to see what happens next' so I went back in to the same dream to see how it ended. The second dreams I was in a place I used to go to a lot growing up, I was in an bingo part of an arcade, I looked around the room and said 'This is a dream' and continued dreaming until I woke

I do this a lot, most of my dreams are like this... at least the ones that I can remember.
