Get kairi outta namine i thought wen u became a nobody ur letters scrabble around?

But basically Kairi lost her heart, she had strong emotions so a Nobody was created, but she had no Darkness (though I don't see how that really ties into her being a Nobody fundamentally).

She also did not get an X in her name because, like someone else already posted, she did not JOIN Organization XIII. (But she was still their tool.)

 

Zandyne's right, but still the answer of how the name 'Namine' came to be is still unsaid...truth to be told, I think the game left a hole right there. As Namine is a Nobody of Kairi, she shouldn't really have a name, being a Nobody, but she has one. Often, most of the others Nobodies take their original Somebodies' names (aside from Xemnas and the Organization's scrambled and added-x ones), but since Kairi is still alive, Namine, I suppose should have no name, but she has one anyway. It's possible that DiZ or someone else just gave her that name, but I'm really not sure. As I said, the game doesn't say anything about her name 'Namine' and so there's like a tiny hole right there.

 

It's very simple, the origins of her name were deemed unimportant to be elaborated on....or it will be revealed later. For all we know it was simply a name she was given so she wouldn't be called 'girl' by the in-game characters and the game developers.

But if you really want to look into it you could try to scramble it to produce different words that may have created it. (You can even look at Ansem's name and get the word "NAMES" out of it.)

As said earlier, only Nomura knows and he obviously hasn't felt obligated to tell us (nor have any interviewers really asked about Namine's name). :\

Side-Note: In my personal opinion, they probably used ENGLISH as the starting roots for her name and combined the words "Name Mine" (as opposed to what is grammatically correct, "My Name" or "Her Name"). Basically take Name + Mine and link them up at the FIRST letter they have in common (which is M) and keep on spelling

So, Nam(e)(M)ine = NAMINE.

Freaking elaborate, but hey it sorta fits....if you squint at it. :\

As has already been said, Namine is not a part of Organization XIII so doesn't have that kinda name with 'X'. Remember that Xemnas is the one who renames them all, and he never renamed Namine.

The name Kairi in japanese has something to do with the ocean (as Sora does with the sky and Riku with the land. Also Aqua, Ven and Terra need no explanation). And Namine's name is also to do with the ocean, 'Nami' means (little) ocean wave in Japanese, as in 'TsuNAMI'. I guess they just added the 'ne' bit to make it into something which sounds more like a name.

I think its something more like she was never in the Organization, so her name was never scrambled and added and X added to it. I do believe she was given her name by Ansem, so I have no idea

 

I think it has to do that she was never in the Organization. Plus Kairi is kinda hard to mash up into a new name and Namine just sounds like a good name.

 

I also think Namine means something related to Kairis name in Japanese..But im not sure
