  1. Sorry, this topic kind of gets in my skin ^^;. I wouldn't mind it, if it was done more smoothly, and the fact is, now Kairi will get more labeled as a "Mary-Sue". I just call it KHIII, because is the third game on the PS console that might happen...

I do think, that there has to be one last game to tie all ends with Sora's journey and the conclusion of all the three upcoming games now...well....then KH will be done. KH2 kind of left it open ended with the letter by Mickey and all, so there's a chance.

Umm...what? Riku made his own keyblade in kingdom hearts, he was supposed to be the keyblade master, instead Sora got it. Just like Riku said in kingdom hearts 1, "You were just the delivier boy." To Sora. Yeah, Sora WAS just the delivier boy in a way. Riku could summon it when it was in Sora's hand too. Riku looked like he had more knowlage of the keyblade than Sora did, throughout the whole game (Kingdom Hearts 1).
And I think Way To The Dawn has nothing to do with Ansem. Nomura said that when Riku came back to the light, when the machine that was to collect data from kingdom hearts blew up, he got that keyblade. The title of it makes since too, Way To The Dawn. And Riku WAS using Soul Eater in the beginning of the game, when he was 'play' fighting with Sora in the land of the dragons. And which Ansem are you talking about? Ansem the Wise? Or Ansem (Xehanort's heartless) sorry if I sound like I'm talking about other people, but I know Ansem by his name in kingdom hearts 1, and it shall always stay that way...

Remember that the Keyblade chooses its master...the one with the stronger heart...and not trying to find answers by giving into darkness to become powerful...
It's okay. Discussions here are more like...passionate debating.
At that time, though, Nomura probably only started the "rough draft" of the games. I think BBS and 358/2 have been confimed for an outside of Japan release, by the way.
Yeah, that letter made me wonder too. Perhaps there's gonna be a secret ending to one of the three games that wraps it up? Or maybe Nomura's planning to expand the KH conquest. *shrugs*

Does the player actually find out what Riku was doing during the year of Sora's memory reconstruction (besides doing whatever in virtual Twilight Town)? That could possibly offer an explination for the Keyblade...

Naruto: I wasn't talking about the fake Ansem. I was talking about Ansem the Wise. And it was explained that Riku could summon the Keyblade because Sora was weak at heart in that moment. His love interest was in a freakin' coma and was going to be used to open the door to ultimate evil. That'd put a lot of stress on anyone.

  4. I think the KH conquest deserves one more PS game, and then end it, no matter how much it pains me. Dragging it out will just make it pointless, it isn't like the game is the FF series, with different people, in different worlds, with different storylines. KH has to end someday *sigh*.

What Riku's been doing while Sora was restoring his memories, we don't exactly know. We do know, that he teamed up with Diz later, and kidnapped Roxas, with the hope that this will make Sora wake up faster if his Nobody bonded with his Other, and kept helping Ansem The Wise along (he's the black cloak guy you always saw appearing in Roxas's virtual TT, though I'm positive you knew that, but saying it anyway...). Also, in the KH2 Novel, the written one, Diz ordered him to dispose of Naminé since she wasn't need, but he let her go with Axel (and you see also see that scene in FM+)

What he did before all this, because I'm sure that can't be covered of what he did that whole year, maybe might be revealed in Coded. Might offer a explanation for Kairi's Keyblade, but let's see then.

He could go off onto a whole next gereration thing, but that usually ends as an epic failure.

If no one knows what Riku was doing, and I think Diz (I'm going to call him Ansem from here because that is his name) mentioned something about "finding Riku in the darkness and calling himself Ansem". Or something along those lines.
After Ansem took Riku in as his "pupil", Sora's memories probably started to return while he was unconscious. Once Riku found out, it's possible that he started to try and understand the Keyblade more and perhaps stumbled upon Kairi's.

Or, if Ansem did in fact know of Aqua, Ven, and Terra, he could've been carrying Kairi's Keyblade the entire time and gave it to Riku since it was more probable that Kairi would trust Riku rather than some old man.

  6. Well, the story on that is that once Xehanort and his apprentices gain reign, they vanquished Ansem The Wise into the darkness, while Xehanort took his name for himself, hence, "calling himself Ansem". Finding Riku in the darkness, I think, is what it says; he perhaps came across Riku while they were travelling among the darkness, especially if Riku was hanging with Mickey for a while (who might have or might not have been with Riku at the time. It's been proven those two weren't always together).

I don't think Riku was more of his "pupil", even if he said so himself, because Ansem The Wise's goal was to get revenge on those who vanished him, thus, his hatred and wanting to end the Organization. Riku was used as a pawn, and he even told that to Mickey while he set his machine up to ruin Xemnas's Kingdom Hearts, and how he regrets it.

I don't think Ansem carried the Keyblade either, even if he knew Aqua, because Kairi's Keyblade and the one Aqua has are completely different, if you've seen the scans of how the Keyblades were ten years ago, and Aqua's Keyblade in the Secret Ending. And if Ansem did hand Riku the Keyblade, he would've said something along the lines of "someone gave it to me", instead of, "I started to remember a long forgotten memory and then suddenly this Keyblade appeared in my hand".

I think I'll just leave Kairi's Keyblade as random KH WTF moment for now, until some info is given. Who knows, it might've been a one time thing.

The explanation for this is still in the air. It's either one of two things.

    1. It was a pseudo-Keyblade that Riku made for her by connecting to her Heart to design one somewhat off the principle of the Dark Keyblade but obviously intended for more pure and better purposes so she could defend herself or...
    2. He found the Keyblade and gave it to her. If he did find it, it might have been at Hollow Bastion since many things of the Keybladers were there, or he found it perhaps on Maleficent's world. Then again, this is speculation.

It did have a Keychain on it but she also didn't call it forth and just Sora, Riku and Mickey used their Keyblades to open the door to face Xemnas so it's not clear if it was a temporary Keyblade or a real one that she just didn't feel secure using. In the end though, those are really the only two options I see as plausible out of any theories posted or what has been shown already. Perhaps we'll find out more on if it's a pseudo blade or a real one. A big clue would be if she uses a Keyblade in KH3. Perhaps either Coded or BBS might show the blade. We can hope.

    Most logical explaination:
It was a lapse in the KH universe logic.

    Most far-fetched explaination:
It was actually a no key-chained keyblade (like in the secret ending) Riku found laying somewhere, the keychain is just there to throw you off (or someone in rendering really screwed up).

Most likely to justify Kairi's existance explaination:
Kairi is OF COURSE related to Aqua in some way, and with a Riku Proxy was able to temporarily re-acquire her keyblade and then lose it again.

    Most ******ed explaination:
That scene never existed. It was an easter-egg/joke scene that somehow got past quality control and ended up in the final cut.

    Most skeptical explaination:
    MARY SU- *SHOT*

Her Keyblade appears to have a keychain though in pictures close up.

Yes I know that, but it's still rather skeptical how/why she got it. (Aside from a shallow 'why' of how to try to make up for Kairi's thus far inability to help.) It's also strange why she just doesn't have it anymore magically later. I mean I know it's magical, but why give her it for a scene just to take it away later? Seems like a waste...then again, looking at the design it was most likely just a last-minute thing.

What if it's some kind of foreshadowing of a future game involving the three of them?
Like...after the next three that might explain some things, there'll be one final one and Kairi will actually be able to do something besides motivate Sora to save the world(s).

Well, Nomura said he was supposed to, and I'd rather listen to him instead of a member of a fansite based on the thing Nomura created.

Perhaps listening to dialouge in the game would be the best thing.
And aren't you a member of the same fansite? >_>

She asked someone who cosplays and asked them to make a keyblade for her. Riku was the shipping.

my theory is this: in kh1 sora goes to the secret place and kairi's heart goes within him. when he goes back to riku who is trying to pull him into the darkness, he chooses light instead and obtains the keyblade. Since the kingdom key (and other keyblades) respond to the heart of a user, (example: when sora takes the keyblade back from riku in hollow bastion) that must have meant when the keyblade first chose his heart on destiny islands, it chose kairi's heart as well since it was within sora at the time, therefore making her a psuedo keyblade weilder not actually chosen, but "chosen by the keyblade." which might be why another keyblade weilder has to give her a keyblade instead of her being able to summon her own...since it doesnt have real recognition to her body and soul and just her heart

riku gave her the keyblade and she could use it because her heart was a strong as ever finally finding her 2 best friends

    her heart.

Yeah, but that still doesn't answer the question of how Riku got it in the first place.
I still stand by my theory that he obtained it somehow while "learning" (if it can be called that) with Ansem the Wise.
Or perhaps Ansem gave it to him to help him truly remember his friends.

I think it's been said somewhere that anyone with a strong heart can wield a keyblade. Sora: was not originally intended for the keyblade, but received it when he resisted the darkness. Riku: lost the keyblade when he gave in to darkness, but still had a strong heart, and eventually received his own. Mickey: got his in the Realm of Darkness. I guess Kairi had a strong enough heart.

Actually didn't they say somewhere something that there is more than one keyblade, just that one is the "chosen one"? I think it was tied into the different keychains or something.
