for the first point, Xehanort was curious at this time and this was quite some time before BBS so things can change
for the second point the keyblade wars almost ended the universe and has the power to shift the balance between the light and the dark so could be right,
for the third point, if he wants to end the tyranny of light than he of all people would know that he is incapable of doing properly so inspire a chain of events to call people who truely can end the tyranny of light and with what KH has established they can easily go this way
for the fourth point, to me and my idea that is to set into motion the plan to get the heros who will end the tyranny of light to rise and fight when the time comes Edit: also needed to make sure that if this plan fails then he can work with his backup plan
for the fifth point, again look at my response for the second point
for the sixth point, duh to get the desired reaction from the hero that happens sometimes they talk to themselves to provoke the hero.

Since I'm not sure exactly how the death of Xehanort will happen, I can at least propose a different solution: imprisonment.

We know that Xehanort is a curious fellow from the events of the existing games, so what better way to destroy his will to live than by trapping him somewhere without escape?

Of course, this all assumes that Sora and his gang are into imposing suffering, but it's the best I could think up.

For the most part we know that; You don't die in the khverse not easily. Even if you are divided into so much you'll become whole one way or another and Xehanort most likely has vast knowledge of this in the first place. For one thing I think they'll need to pull some sort of imprisonment on him. Two they'll need to find a way to take away the ability to weild a key blade from him and finally they'll need to stop him from using any other source of magic, such as in the final fight of BBS he was able to raise the earth into a pillar and manipulate the other keyblades in the graveyard. Maybe using the concept of the explosion that cleansed Riku might come into play there's no real sort of explanation. The only one to "die" so far in the KHverse has been Eraqus, along with Repliku but he sorta doesn't count and Eraqus may still need to pull himself together. In any case yeah. I don't think they're going to be able to kill him all the same they'd have to do something similar to I guess what Ichigo did to Aizen or Aang did to the firelord. Who knows.

Nomura's said that KHIII is going to be the end of the "Seeker of Darkness Saga" with Xehanort as the villain, so whatever happens should mean that we don't see him again in the next KH game. I'm of the opinion that Xehanort will wind up killed/destroyed in the end rather than imprisoned or whatever, and I think it will, in its simplest form, be because of a light and/or friendship laser thingy. Probably from Kingdom Hearts itself, channeled through Sora (or maybe all seven of the lights, but likely mostly Sora).

Of course, the scenario with the Keyblade War actually beginning with Sora and Riku (and the other lights?) acting as Kingdom Hearts' guardians is way cooler, but less likely, I think.

I would love the worlds merging into one super world at the end though.

This could be answered so many ways. If they wrote it just like a normal Kingdom Hearts game, a laser of friendship will kill Xehanort and because the friendship is so strong he can never come back. However I have a little more faith in the writers. Assuming they have realized that all of their fans have grown up now they could write this several ways.

They could possibly go Firelord Ozai style and take away Xehanorts bending; but I think they will probably play with our feelings a little bit with this game. I think that each character archetype will suffer a fate with their archetypal counterparts. To better explain, I think that the dark archetype (Terra, Riku, Axel) out of the trinity will end up being sacrificed in some way. I think the light archetype (Ven, Sora, Roxas) will end up being tied down in some way by fighting or being taken over by the enemy. More specifically Sora. I think that the princess archetype (Aqua, Kairi, Xion) will be the ones that make the true offense on the enemy.

With all that being said, I ultimately think that Xehanort will be his own downfall, he will become overwhelmed with power.

Um, actually if a person is killed without unlocking their hearts with a keyblade the person will die, I mean is is cal Keyblade for a reason.

Nomura has already said in an interview that nobody strictly dies in this world, they just get transubstantiated into another form. Defeating him will probably entail messing up his form so much that he's no longer a threat.

Well, f you think about it, the same belief is held by many religions, really all we nee is to send Xehanort to the next world, whatever that is in KH

Maybe this is why the worlds are normally separated: to keep some maniac from wreaking havoc on all of them. We might see him sealed away in the realm of darkness or something like that.

The worlds are separated because apparently everybody is a dick and causes keyblade wars
    So yeah, basically
Should've been more clear though, when I say next world, I'm talking about how many religions view death as merely an ascension (or descent) into another world, basically the after life
That's basically all they need to beat Xehanort, is have him ascend. Basically become a ghost or something
(Plus if he's a ghost he can come back in sequels!)
