*gags* oh my god..I got sick....I'm not mad about the photos or nothing, but that made me sooooo sick to my stomach..

Ok, why do we need to be civil about how we kill animals? Sure, I'm against blatent animal cruelty and I like animals as much as the next guy, but don't animals kill each other? Survival of the fittest? And I don't think the animals really resent being killed. They kill each other and we kill them. It's a cycle that has been with us for thousands of years. I've seen the photos but I honestly do not care what happens to them. I'm against blatent animal cruelty but I am not against killing animals in any way if it is for a good reason or if it's hunting.

 

I agree on a couple levels.
But, you dont see people slaughtering dogs and cats in the U.S... whats the difference? If this was going on with dogs, then all the animal lovers would flip out and have a heart attack. I really see no difference.
Horses werent meant for human consumption. They are companion animals, same as Dogs or Cats. So if we cant be inhumane to our household pets, why the heck should this be allowed??

sigh.... so many are saying that they are suprized by this to think that there are such people in the world, i read online somewhere for other slaughter stuff that of 1000 people 20% want it stoped, 20% want it changed to less painfull ways, and 40% od people dont care. us humans are a horrible horrible race

Horses have been used for consumption for some time. It is nothing new. Just horses are also useful for other things too, so they aren't used as often, and in most European and American areas, horses really aren't eaten as a regular diet. Some people get mad because deer are eaten too, but without hunters to do this, deer would be more over populated because humans of old removed many of deers' natural predators. I find hunting a lot more humane than this.

I don't mind that horses are being used for food, but the treatment is appalling. The way they are being slaughtered is really nasty and in the wild animals kill most of the time before they eat, or they die while being eaten by some large big toothed creature. The slaughter is quick and over. These people clearly are not doing that. They are putting the animal in a state of not being able to move by shooting a bolt through its brain, which doesn't kill it while they let it drown its blood for several minutes and whatever else they are doing.

 

I would normally agree with this but its not that humans are killing horses, its the fact that humans have made it into a business. They purposely breed animals so they can slaughter them and sell them for food, it might be nature to kill other animals but nothing about this is natural.

Ok this a theory, it is not fact and only my thoughts so believe me or not.
Western society was influenced to kill animals mainly because of Christianity, mainly because God says that humans are allowed to use animals in anyway, they were purposely made for food by humans.

 

That theory is just a theory and erroneous. People have been killing animals for food for thousands of years, well before Christianity was even thought of, well before Egyptian religion was thought of, and well before that. Animals have a lot of protein and you can get a lot of nutritional value from consuming them. We are omnivores and have been for an extremely long time.

 

It was only a theory, theorys are theorys, nothing more. It was a theory on 'Western Society' were I am guessing this is being taken place, it was not a theory about Egyptians or anything like that.

I heard that horse meet is popular in France. :\
