Horse Slaughter

Horse slaughter is the inhumane euthenasia of horses intended for human cunsumption.

each year, over 100,000 horses are sent to slaughter in the united states. thousands of horses are shipped across the us and canada in cattle trailers. As you may know, the average horse is significanyly taller than a cow, so it is rather incomfortable. The horses travel many days through blistering conditions without even food or water. Horses often come to the slaughter plants half-starved, only skin and bones. Innapropriate flooring leads to slipping and falling, and often trampling.

Federal law REQIRES that the horse be unconcious during the actual slaughtering. A popular choice in rendering a horse unconcious is a captive bolt gun. This large gun shoots a metal rod into the horse's brain. But sadly, many horses are still perfectly concious while the slaughtering goes on.
The horse is then hoisted up by a rear leg, and dangled low to the ground. The horse's throat is then cut, and the horse is left to bleed out. The horse is so low to the ground, that it often ends up drowning on its own blood, which Isnt pleasant to say the least...
Once the horse is bled out, it is then slaughtered, and shipped out to japan and other countries.

This isnt exactly the best way to kill our horses, is it? Is this the pay back they get for serving man all theses centuries? I dont think so. I think that we should end horse slaughter, or at least do something to lessen the horse's suffering, dont you?

That is disgusting, I love horses and that treatment is out of order!, they need to find a new way of doing this if they insist on carrying it on

 

I agree. I am a huge horse fan. I think they should modify thier ways of doing this... but id rather have it stop all together.

 

That's disgusting. Those people go straight to hell, is all I have to say. Unfrotunatly, the animal slaughter in China, Canada, Japan, and South Korea is much worse..

As I've said on someother thread: All animals are no better or worse then us humans- if these horse slaughterers have reasons then tell me! Horses are equivilent to us we have no right to do such a thing! I think anyway.

 

that is sick. if they insist on killing them, they should do it in a less painful way.

 

I feel sorry for these poor horses. I love horses so much, and not just horses but every animal on this planet. These people are inhumane and have no sense of love for what God created for us. Humans (not all of them) are the number one cause of animal extinction and endangering of rare species. Take the wild herds of buffalo as an example. There used to be millions of herds roaming the western plains, now they have been reduced to nothing. The BLM rounds up mustang herds each year, and most of the mustangs have a good chance of going to a slaughter house.

Wolves are another example. I was looking for pictures of wolves on the internet, and came across wolf slaughterers who actually tortue the wolves and then kill them. If there are no more animals on this Earth, we know who we can point the finger at - the people who destroyed all the beautifull animals of this world.

 

That's not something I want to wake up to again. How sad and ..bleah. I had to pause myself before I unleashed a load of profanities on here. We do eat meat but we owe it to any animals that we use for food to be humane about it, give them a good life and then kill them swiftly before they are done anything else with. YECH! Hunters long ago would KILL an animal outright. They would not do this. I am very displeased with how people collect animals, mistreat them, and then slaughter them in as gruesome ways as possible. It makes me start to wonder what kind of people go to do these jobs. Again...YECH! I am disturbed.

i think it just worng all of it and the fact that we kill so many horses or that we kill them at all i mean we used to use them all the time and now what, are the "outdated" that is really not fair they will became exicnt in a only matter of time

Exactly. And they will kill any horse over the age of 6 months. Is THAT really fair? Ending a horses life when theyre just getting used to the world? what if people took our 6 month old babies and slaughtered them? How would WE feel?
