Macho men who resort to violence to defend their reputation are more likely to get seriously hurt or even killed, according to a new study.

Would you fight to death to defend someones honor?

nope, no, nu-uh, nadda, no way. Honor is completely useless, especially for a person that's dead. If someone's going to actually fight to defend honor, let them be by my guest, but leave me out of it. I'll be in my basement playing my DS or PS2 while they waste their life

I would fight to protect them, but probably not their honor lol, well maybe I would if I didn't think they would take out a knife on my if I did.

I think in the given situation, I'd save my own skin.

Survival of the fittest and all.

Did we really need a study to figure this one out?

I'd help my friend if he got into trouble, but I would only resort to violence as a last.. resort.

Saying that must get you all kinds of friends.

I'd defend someone's honour and respect in some situations. I prefer if people stand on their own legs to deal with their own trouble. Makes them grow. But if they can't i'd help them, sure. Even if the odds are against us. I'm a little crazy that way.

Somebody's honor, no. It's up to #1 to protect his honor. But I would risk my life and more for the life of another person, especially a person I love. Other humans, on the other hand, are little more than mice searching for cheese in a maze for my amusement. People are all that matter.

Also, wouldn't this be better in the Discussion section?

Honor isn't something someone else can defend for you. Honor is about how you conduct yourself and how you live. Do you live as an upright, honest, honorable person worthy or trust and respect or not? That's all there really is to it. Fighting over the concept of 'honor' is silly and has always been an issue for people who don't have a firm grasp of the concept to begin with. Live well and no one can take that away from you whatever is said or done. No use in dying like an idiot over something without purpose.

Well if that's your aim, you're going the right way about it, at least.
