For the 'only Homestuck readers allowed' thing, I would appreciate it if the role play stayed open to everyone so there were no exclusions if someone really wants to be apart of it. So long as they would be willing to read the wikia/role play/whatever rules you put in place and educate themselves so they don't ruin anything. You can have a 'will kick out' rule if they're ruining everything or just being ignorant and unwilling to be educated. I think most people will be turned away and confused if they don't know anything about Homestuck anyway, but we don't really want to deliberately exclude anyone, if it can be helped. c:

Maybe not FORCE people, but we could certainly put in large friendly letters at the top of the first post "IT IS HIGHLY ENCOURAGED THAT YOU READ HOMESTUCK BEFORE APPLYING".

Seems like the most logical way to do it. I would ask for kids older than 13, though. That's a tough age to write, and I'm talking writing fundamentals there. Even Hussie's 13-year-olds come off as older.

Which mechanics are set in stone and which aren't is still a hazy subject. Depending on the number of players per session, I'm all for having two interlocking sessions, but I think we should create our own race. More fun that way.

    Here's my idea.

The Hero of Time figures out her powers whenever. If she decides to use them, then everyone affected goes back and edits their posts; or, if it's a phenomenal change, they edit it to say "EVERYTHING FROM HERE TO POST # IS NULL AND VOID" or something. Either that or make the Weird Time Sh&$ a passive power of the Hero of Time which the GM activates as she sees fit. The problem is trying to emulate the way it works in the story...

Granted, part of the boon to time shenanigans is that the players are never really screwed as long as they protect their Time Hero. I'm beginning to think we should oust it altogether. There doesn't have to be a Hero of Time. Maybe we could tackle it in another session, after we've all had some experience role playing/GMing under this system.

I think we should create a list of heroes, titles, powers, and so on, and have the players roll for theirs. More organized that way. Everything else, though, could be up to them. Or maybe we could judge depending on their choice of weapon or something. Seems like some of the titles are engineered like that.

I'm for this. I refuse to be party to an exclusivist VIP party town. People feel alienated enough when we make our crazy in-jokes. Besides, anyone who's willing to do the required reading is a brother through and through.

I assume players (2 or more) would hop on to do some textual role playing whenever it's called for, and post their results where appropriate in their writing.

I think that's a good idea, to have them just understand it. It's just hard since it's such an involved series. :c
    But anyway.
I think we would need to have a vote for a the orchestrator. Also, how many kids? I think we should keep them decently young, though. Not over 18. I don't think they need to all be the same age, though. Maybe locations could be somewhere near the actual player's location so they know what area the kid is from pretty well?

If no one's opposed, I'd like to throw my hat in the ring for GM. With a little bit of research I think I could come up with a fun and soundly-structured plot. Whether I'm chosen or not, I don't know that I'll be playing unless a slot needs filling.

I would suggest either two sessions of four players each, or one of six. Keep it simple and small-ish. I'm all for a 15-18 age range, sounds like a solid space to work from. 15 would be my absolute minimum there. Having thought about it, it would probably be more fun to have them as different ages. Keeping to the player's location sounds like a smart move; easier to write what you know. It'll also make the dialogue more meaningful, as players can talk about what sucks in their hometown or what local events they're anticipating.

Our own could be interesting, but it'd also be more labour intensive, as we'd have to make up our own culture, etc. If it were to be as different from the kids as the trolls are, we'd be practically writing our own original RP, instead of a Homestuck one. We'd have to figure out the romance system, the appearance, the way the culture functions, and the underlying emotions of the race.

Also, how will the original-race-thing work if we're going to be using our own locations?

Oh wow. I wasn't even talking about the Hero of Time. I meant ectobiology-wise. Yeah, seconding not having a Hero of Time.

    No opposition here.

I have queried a few on their SBURB-chosen attributes preemptively.

Essentially, the attributes chosen are to suit with the mechanics of SBURB as per the comic - that is, the players' attributes challenge them. For example, a player who is introverted and physically weak may receive Vim.

As for the mechanics, the inclusion of Space and Time players, much more so the former, may depend on whether or not we may slightly alter the mechanics of SBURB, as the former is certainly vital for the universe creation and the like.

Also, I hold no opposition to and support Sforzato's GM-ism.

    I strongly support Sforzato's GMhood.
He'd create a great story, and 8r8k h34ds when he needs to.

    Anyway!
For the first go-through, at least, I think we should stick to the basic structure of Sburb. Example, needing Space and Time, trolls (or whatever), Noir, etcetera, while occasionally bending things to either make them more fun or fit to an RP structure.

Also keying in my support for Godhead Nouveau. :B

    Also agee with this.

Though, will we have a Doc Scratch/FG in the session? I mean, granted, playing the Scratch card will lead to time shenanigans at every ****ing turn. But this is really up to Nova since he will be making the plot, lol.

    I support Sforzato for GM!
My only issue with trolls is that I think it wold be best (at least for our first try) to not have an alternate species or any type of help/guidance other than the whim of the GM. Perhaps if there is a second game, then have those of the first take the place of the current trolls? I think there's more opportunity for expansion, creativity, and putting our own touch on the game this way.

Oh god you guys ; w; I'm seriously blushing

Ok, before anyone makes up their mind, I should probably address some of the big concerns and how I plan to tackle them.

    IF ALIEN SPECIES ARE INCLUDED:
They don't have to and probably won't be significantly different from humans, whether in culture or appearance, and especially not in capability. Apart from experience gain and each character's respective strengths, weaknesses, and powers, I would rather there not be any significant difference in skill between the races.

    IF TROLLS ARE INCLUDED:
I will have to make adjustments because neither incarnation of their race had an even chance of winning; the first incarnation was too weak and the second too strong. It's not as noticeable because Doc Scratch is there to challenge them by making their enemies stronger, but... well, read on for my feelings on that. Anyway, I guess I am kind of saying I would really rather not include the trolls. It will be especially difficult to balance them and still retain their unique flavor in the canon story, and I have a feeling that will disappoint people. But I don't believe it's my place to rule things out willy-nilly. Well... mostly. I've got to put my foot down on some points.

    IF TIME TRAVEL IS INCLUDED:
I have a plan for how it will work, because too many people have talked with me about it, although I'm still reluctant. I will tell you that it will not be as rampant as in Homestuck, and it will not be possible until later in the game. Note that there is a device required to time-travel, for Aradia and Dave; these devices bear resemblance to their respective worlds; and they are only used by versions of each character who are probably very far along in their worlds. Aradia's does not appear until Make her pay., at which point the trolls have presumably played for a long time, and Dave's until Accelerate, where he has already visited his Denizen.

IF DOC SCRATCH/LORD ENGLISH IS INCLUDED:
Someone has hacked my account and is masquerading as me. I will not include Doc Scratch or Lord English. That is something that, almost more than anything else, is unique to Andrew Hussie and the canon Homestuck, and I refuse to take that from him. It is stated outright that Lord English and all events and circumstances surrounding him are not universal constants. Not to mention, his inclusion sort of puts the events of the Battlefield on the back-burner, and at least for my first game I would like to experiment more with that culture and the enemies that appear there.

THINGS I AM CURRENTLY THINKING I WILL PROBABLY INCLUDE:
    - Echidna. I am pretty sure she's a universal constant. I might get creative with her, though.
    - One Land which includes Frogs, if there are two interlocking sessions. Frog breeding being the thing that creates the new universe, of course. Both Homestuck sessions had Frog Lands.
    - One Land with a music motif, if there's a Time character. It would seem Time powers are linked to this somehow. Dave's is the Timetable, which is clearly DJ-themed; and Aradia's is a music box, not to mention hers is the Land of Quartz and Melody.
    - A few surprises. >:3

Please tell me if you have any questions, or if I missed anything. Within reason, I want this to be the Homestuck RP everyone wants it to be, not just my own personal HS AU wankery. Not to mention there's a ton of stuff to be worried about and I probably won't think of it all myself @_@

I hold no general objections. You shall be an excellent GM.

Though I may query, will you write in a First Guardian with a role integral to the plot in itself? Also, shall you accordingly decide the lands through looking at and understanding the characters or permit the players to decide them privately?

Nova and What? - I ****ing love both of you can I please just hug you tight?? You all are like, making this happen.

ARE ANY IN OPPOSITION OF SFORZATO AS GAME MASTER/MODDER?
If so, please state such accordingly. Otherwise, I call that he's the official GM of (at least) the first game.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: GM is in possession of a large stockpile of warm fuzzy bear hugs which are distributed liberally upon request. c:

There is always a First Guardian, as far as I can tell. Their purpose and general aim in each session clearly differs. I'm still not sure what I'm going to do with that, but there will be one.

As for the second point... I dunno, I'm having trouble deciding. It's the same trouble as with the powers and titles. I think I might decide the Lands on my own, though, but they will correspond to the players' powers and titles, which I intend to discuss at length with the players when they submit a character sheet.

Thanks for reminding me about that, by the way. To prospective players: If you're already dreaming up a character and you have a power and title in mind, keep it. It won't be on the character sheet, but I want to have a dialogue about it with everyone so as to make sure everyone gets something that will challenge and empower them, and something which compliments their characters and teammates well.

I think What?'s been working on doing title-y stuff and characters to try and make things tough, as well. Does anyone want to be in charge of artwork/music/etc. for any of such needs (if they arise, which, though I doubt, I think is a possibility)?

Ooh. Music, actually, would be incredibly fun. I can't promise I'd always be available for it, but I have access to an expansive variety of music-making programs, and reasonable experience with all of them. It would be easier if I had someone to help, though.

I can play live instruments (electric bass guitar, flute, keyboard, percussion stuff) with a basic-high skill and I have experience with using computer/cellphone based music systems, so I could possibly help if we ended up doing music.

Well, I play piano, and I've experimented with guitar, but most of my experience is in generators, technological stuff.

I do think art and music would really add.

Oh gosh, if I get art/music support I will flip my sh#% harder than you knew was possible. Like seriously? Make my dreams happen a little harder guys <3

I have FL Studio but I have ZERO decent samples. Except... like, I can make Pokemon-style music. xD I can draw, barely, but my designs are terrible. I can no doubt come up with stuff for everyone to do though. Like there will definitely be room for art/music assets if that's a possibility. Just don't let me get too excited and overwork anyone...

Yeah he has, and he ran it by me. I like the ideas I've heard, but I want to make sure we're all on the same page, so don't get too far ahead of me until a thread exists. Which it probably won't for a little while because this is the busiest part of the year for me. Sorry guys :c
