Holy ****, IGN Gaves GTAIV a Perfect 10

Multiplayer in SA was pointless because the game didn't have a large emphasis on it. But with GTAIV, we're talking a full-blown multiplayer scene on XBL and PSN with 1-16 players on the map simultaneously with the option to play several different modes. I'd say there is a large emphasis on GTAIV's multiplayer this time around.

That being said, any game that wants to sport 16+ players online to me should support splitscreen multiplayer. It makes little sense to me to not provide the maximum amount of options for multiplayer gameplay when you're intending to service a large number of people at a time. COD4 failed massively on meeting this, but that's another story.

But again, it's well justified to me that it's not a question of Rockstar not wanting to do as it is just them not being *able* to do it. The system just can't handle doing splitscreen with a sandbox of GTAIV's caliber, but a perfect 10 is just not accurate.

Reliability is a perception. I disagree more often with IGN's ratings than I do the opposite. By saying IGN is more reliable, you're saying their opinions on games are 'the norm' or 'the right'. Putting aside TMM's dimension of business agenas, what IGN may like may not be agreeable with others (myself in particular can attest to this).

IGN is opinionated (again, incredibly biased to gameplay) like the rest of us. If IGN's tastes suit you, then that's fine--just it'd be unwise to take that affinity for IGN and call it 'reliable' judgment of video games.

 

Gamespot and GT (especially) never loved AC, just praised it for the invenation, they addressed the issues of repeativitiy and crap AI. They said the first half was amazing but then goes down hill. And I totally agreed with that. I think I remember a certain shadowjak saying when he first played AC saying it was amazing. =P

To me GT is the main site I go to for reviews, yes there are gonig to be ones you won't agree with, but that's only natural, people's opinions differ. But that is a different story, this is about GTA4.

From all the over reviews it's been given 10/10 to the lowest of 9.5 GT gave it 9.8. So I doubt the advertising is the driving reason. Hype might be a little bit. But does Rockstar really need to do a Kane and Lynch to promote the game?

As for the 10/10 no game is perfect, that's a given, for a game like GTA their are gonig to be nugs, but it's good to see they are now a minimum and appear much much less this time around. as IGN said.

True. I waqs in zellers (canadian) and i bought GoW I, and CoL 2 weeks ago and they didnt care.( i rented 2 a while ago, like the day it came out.)

 

Well I've been playing this for hours, and I must say, im quite impressed. There are so many little odds and ends added in that unlike the usual changes you expect from a new GTA, this one is more refreshing. And although I dont care about graphics much, I cant help but to gawk at its splendor. Although I suppose this is to be expected from a next gen console. They even made things more realistic in how you go about things. Before, when you got a star, the police automatically home in on you constantly, finding you even in places they shouldnt. The only real peace being gotten if you try to find a star, repaint your car, or find some area only reachable by you. Now, the police set-up a search in a certain diameter from where they witnessed the crime. You're radar shows this area and all cop cars searching for you. The only way to remove the stars would be to exit that area WITHOUT a cop seeing you, if they do, then the search area moves to where you were just spotted. Even using the paint the spray doesnt get you off the hook if there are police nearby. Thats just one of the improvements I was really glad to see. The easiness in that areas in the old game always made me wander off and do other things.

 

My brothers are dying for this game.My mom told me to give them money so that they can buy it.Yeah I don't think so.Also one of my brothers told me about something that can cause a problem.I'm sure some of you or all of you should know what it is.

The game really looks great and I liked the other GTAs a lot so I will be getting it. I would have gotten it whether it had been rated lower or not. It's nice to see though it did get a great rating from so many places and not just a couple. So far, I've heard of some small setbacks to the game but nothing that seems to take away from the story or the activities in it drastically so definitely it's on my list of wanted games.

 

So, apparently when the review originally went live the score was 9.5 for both versions, but within 15 minutes the review was pulled from the site and delayed, and when it was released again, the score was 10/10

Again, this has nothing to do with GTAIV, any sort of doubt that it is an amazing game, or saying that it does not particularly deserve good review scores, but this is the kind of thing I'm talking about here with review sites.

 

Yeah.My brother told me that the last few games did cause a few problems but now he says it can cause an even bigger problem.
