Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry

"Thankies." Dee grinned. "That's very nice of you. My name is Cadea, but just call me Dee. So ermm... If you don't mind me asking, what's it like at Hogwarts? Are the teachers as strict as I've been told?"

 

"Thanks, I just hope the foods nice, and, how are the teachers??"
Zack asked.

 

She thought about her answers for a second.
"Well Dee, Hogwarts is simply... Amazing. I'm so glad I'm able to go there, it's the best place for Magic Studies. And the castle itself has so many mysteries and legends surrounding it, I'm still sort of confused. You can expect to get lost frequently during your first few weeks. I actually heard that Dumbledore himself never managed to unravel all of the castle's secrets, when he was Headmaster."
"And the teachers... Well some of them aren't that strict, as long as you don't fool around in class too much. They'll probably seem quite intimidating and strict at first, but you get used to it. I actually prefer the rather strict atmosphere, I feel safer and controlled that way... But the History of Magic teacher is a whole different story. Professor Binns is a ghost, rumor has it that he never even noticed that he died. So unless you're extremely interested in History, bring a soft quill-case to the lessons, you can catch up on your sleep, as long as you study hard by yourself."
She paused for breath, and wrinkled her nose at the thought of the next matter:
"Homework is going to be a pain, trust me. Long essays are almost a weekly affair, and turning your homework in late is unheard of. That's one of the only things I don't like, with my Quidditch practices and Prefect duty I'm swamped with homework."
She turned to the boy now.
"I didn't catch your name, but the food is absolutely delicious. There's always enough of it, and I love how all we have to do is turn up at the Great Hall for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. And the feast... It's a miracle that I've managed to stay in such good shape, with all the food I'm stuffing in me... But you won't have to worry about that for another four, five years."
She winked, and asked:
"Anything else you want to know, or have you already grown sick of hearing my voice?"

 

Dee sighed in relief, it sounded as though her father had totally blown everything out of proportion when he'd told her about Hogwarts. But she really shouldn't of expected anything less from the man, after all fear was one of his strongest weapons. Not to mention the fact he was just plain sadistic.
"To be honest it sounds a hell of a lot better then life at home." She giggled slightly. "I was told you'd have to write essays every night for every class and things like that. And if you didn't get it perfect they'd punish you in some really horrid way."

 

"My names Marshall, by the way, Zack Marshall."
Zack tried to say in a James Bond type of voice.

 

"If that was you trying to sound cool you fa-ah-ailed." Dee snorted as she over exaggerated the prononciation of the 'A' in failed. A smirk spreading over her face along with a look of extreme amusement despite the fact she had no idea what so ever about the pun the mannerism contained. After all she'd grown up far, far away from any kind of muggle media or communication. In fact up until the age of eight, when she'd finally taught herself to read, she hadn't even known what a muggle was.

 

"See! Even the quiet giant over there agrees with me." Dee giggled, elbowing the unfortunate boy playfully. "So what's your name giant person? Is it Sky like Maria said?" She enquired, once again tilting her head to one side sweetly.

 

"Okies, nice to meet you Sky!" Dee grinned as she slumped back in her seat. "So we have: Zack," She started to list off as she pointed to Zack. "Sky," She pointed to the seventh year. "Maria" Dee indicated to the other female in the room. "and, of course, Dee." She finished, pointing to herself. "And in case you're wondering the fluffball here." Dee continued as she picked up her cat and plopped him on her lap, "Is Whisper."

 

"He's such an old softie." Dee giggled as she cuddled the cat tightly, much to the cat's happiness as you could hear his purring quite clearly on the other side of the compartment. "I've had him for as long as I can remember."

 

"I have an owl. I just got him, and he's un-named. Any ideas?"
Zack asked, poking his hand through the cage, and petting his owl, who suddenly bite him.
"OW!" Zack said, rubbing his leg,
"And, I thought my James Bond impression was awesome!"

 

"Hmm, one of my favorite Muggle-bands has an awesome song called 'Whisper'. Bet your cat proves to be just as awesome as the song!" Maria said, voice trailing away a bit, as the lyrics started to go through her head. Then she shook it, and went to a previous subject.
"My mother used to scare me with stories about the teachers and homework, I almost refused to go to school the first day! But I think she was just joking, my mother has a weird sense of humor... Are your parents like that, Dee, or are they strict?"
She turned her head to Zack, clamped the back of her teeth together and did a strangely feminine Sean Connery-impersonation:
"And what about you, Mr. Bond? Strict wizard-parents, or something completely different?"
She glanced at the owl, raking her brain for a name:
"Hmmm, how about James? It could be a running gag, or a tribute to James Potter... Although his son proved to become more famous... Harry?"
She pointed at her own snowy-owl.
"I got her when I started my third year here, her name's Amylia. I was feeling uncreative when I got her, so I gave her my second name... It's my grandmothers name too, incidentally."

"Oh, I don't have 'parents' per say." Dee tried to explain. "I just have my Father, and he's strict. Like really strict..." She said, once again trailing off at the end of her sentence with a look of melancholy in her eyes, which she promptly hid in her cat's long, fluffy fur.

However, as per usual, she tried to save herself from any questions by diverting the subject. "I think you should call him Steve!" She giggled happily.

 

"I can't think of anything awesome. How about, Xephyr...." Zack said, randomly, just putting letters together in his head.
"Kinda random, but it'll do. Hello, Mr. Owl, or Xephyr."
Zack said, poking his hand through the cage again, as the owl bit his finger.
"Oww. Stop that!"
Zack said, pulling up his finger, and sucking it in his mouth.

OOC: We're on the train, now we have 4 or 5 characters, we can stop,and get on with hogwarts.

 

"I don't think that's such a good name, it's a bit too weird..." Dee mumbled under her breath. But after all it was his owl, and therefore his choice. She just disliked the idea of such a complex name for such a simple creature. "And if you keep sticking your fingers in it's cage of course it's gonna bite. Owls are territorial."
