"How did I?..."

 

"It's....complicated..."

 

"Simple and easy please."

 

"I guess you just let a little bit of the pressure off me..." She tried to explain, brushing some her long white blonde hair behind her ear.

 

"Would it help if you never saw me again?"

 

"No, that'd prob'ley be the exact opposite of helping." She replied smiling sadly.

 

"So when is the next time we should talk?"

 

"I don't mind, I just don't want you...you know... apart from that everything can just stay the same."

 

"so no more flirting?"

 

"Just... Don't do that, or kiss me... In fact, it'd prob'ley be best if you didn't touch me at all whenever that's possible."

 

"Okay." Nort said emotionless. Inside, he was hurt.

 

"I'm sorry, I really am but... I well... you know..."

 

"Yeah, I do. I just wish that could end."

 

"You have no idea how much I want it over with... how much it hurts and how much I can't stand even living at times... But I know it never will be over if I do end it, that's really the only reason I keep going..." she sighed her voice fading down into a whisper, dropping her head causing her long blonde hair to fall down over her face.

 

"Hey calm down. I am here remember?"

 

"Sorry..." She muttered.

 

"It's okay." In Nort's mind, he pictured Conni running and hugging him. Like that will happen.

 

"Sorry..." She muttered again before breathing in deeply and sighing "Right." Conni added with a smile "That's my minor mental melt-down over with."

 

"That's okay. Just don't start cutting yourself."

 

"Don't go givin' me ideas!" She laughed.


I hate doing this... Pretending everything's fine, but I have to. I can't let them worry about what they can't change.
