Thread about collecting stuff. Do you collect anything? Post photographs! There was a thread centred on collector's items a while back, but I feel that by now the topic warrants a revival.

It's sort of ridiculous how many Italian fumetti I own which I've not even read yet. Italian publisher, Macedonian translations. All of these I've acquired within the past year, none of these I've actually uh... read. When you can claim to owning this amount of paraphernalia without utilizing it in any meaningful way besides allowing it to collect dust on the shelf, such is when you know you might be a collector.

Not depicted: my collection of American comic books and graphic novels. Three of the items in the first photograph are stacked with eight volumes per stack. 24 total + 13 other volumes = 37 volumes total.

I am especially eager to start reading Alan Ford. It's a satirical series from the '70s which parodies aspects of American society whilst simultaneously retaining a regional, distinctly Milanese vibe (it is written and drawn by Italians after all). Plenty of dark humor, plenty of puns, much wit.

'Tis okay, I know I've spent at least 400+ dollars on American comics alone. Although in my defense, it is not exactly difficult by any stretch of the imagination to surpass the $100 dollar mark when volumes often go for approx. 15~20 per issue. If they're published by either of The Big Two, Marvel or DC. I've stopped buying from them as of late because I felt I was wasting my money, and torrents exist.

What really puts it into perspective is the fact that I managed to buy over twenty volumes of ancient Italian comics for less than $20. American comics are certainly overpriced.

 

I've calculated my backlog's worth before and it hit over six grand. That's just the backlog.... Not even like stuff I've beaten or had since childhood...

I's say I collect games, but in reality I suppose I collect game boxes but... I don't feel like I collect them if you know what I mean? Like they're simply vessels for games. Suppose this explains my non attachment to discs and my welcome for the digital versions.

I may post them, but it'll just be shelves of blurred sides of games.

 

DVDs. I collect DVDs. I love them and would spend all my money on them if I could. Upon counting, I have 136 films and 50 boxsets (counting each classic who story as separate).

I collect KH stuff.

Too lazy 4 pics, but I have all seven English releases of the games (including both versions of CoM, and also 1.5). I have all the english strategy guides except 1.5. I have all of the english KH1, CoM, and (what's been released of) the KH2 manga, and volume 1 of the Days manga in japanese.

Got Roxas and Axel plushies, and two homemade paoupu fruits. Got a KH wall scroll. Got two Keyblade necklaces and the Roxas necklace. Got a butt-ton of KH t-shirts. Got Sora gloves (though I have no idea where they came from). Lots of pins. I have a giant metal Keyblade that weighs like 7 pounds.

I've done cosplays of KH1 Kairi, Namine, Xion, Roxas, Ventus, Xigbar, Demyx, Marluxia, and am currently working on KH2 Kairi. Granted, most of those are no longer cosplays I wear, but...


Okay so it's less an actual collection and more like I just have a lot of KH crap.

 

i thought about getting the strategy guides but i couldn't justify buying strategy guides for games i already know so well just to increase my kh collection
i have 2's and com's and had BBS's (kinda regret selling it) but as i am now having the games is enough of a collection for me.
and they're not exactly cheap so

 

Well see I originally started getting them when I was like 12 and I actually needed them.

Now I just buy them just to have them. Because I am a nerd. My copy of the KH2 one is duct taped to hell though.
Couldn't justify buying the 1.5 guide though, as I do already have the guides for the games it contains, not realizing how drastically different Final Mix is from the original. I don't have guides for any of the new bosses, and all of the chests have different things in them than what it says in my book.

Finding those puppies without help is a pain in the butt let me tell you.

BBS's was immensely helpful because of command melding. I can't even describe.
My KH2's is just a pile of papers between two covers. None of them are attached anymore.
When I first played KH I printed a walkthrough out and used that as a guide because I didn't have it.

 

I don't collect...actually I do have a small collection of One Piece media...

that's pretty legit.
i have toyed with the idea of buying the manga but 1, holy **** thats a lot of money, 2, i had the first 5 at one point and was not in love with the translation, and 3, they ****ed up the arc headers, if you're not going to do that wonderful idea right don't do it at all.
