Okay, I told my teacher in social studies (we are currently studying WWII and I have a test coming tomorrow) that you could study by playing video games. He said it was a foolish thing but I would like to prove him wrong.

So what games do you think has the potential on giving historical education benefits?

Hmm, actually, that isn't foolish, since it will give the excuse: "Oh I got to buy a console for homework"

Anyways, I think some games are:

The History Channel Civil War: A Nation Divided
    Call of Duties
Any basic war games. It actually will teach you how soldiers faught in Combat.

The actual gameplay won't help much, but you find in most FPS's have cut-scenes that talk a bit about the history of it. But honestly it won't be as factual as a book or video on the matter.

It will give you basic knowledge. =/

The most historically accurate game is the Civil War one, but it is from the History Channel, so you'd kind of expect that.

Just like Darkandroid said, it'll only give you basic knowledge. The details it gives are likely to be unreliable.

As much as i love video games, and wish we could play them to study, I have to say that none really teach about the history of things and what really happened, since you are in it. Sorry but I think your teacher is correct. Please just study on this one.

    Study

    or

    Call of Duty 1, 2, and 3.

However the thing about games is they don't really teach you much about World War II, just the situations and what needed to be done.

    Pokemon!

I dunno how but it should.

To be honest, you would be better to just study for it.

I know study is one thing, but what I'm trying to prove is that what could support studying.
