Historical Anime

Is there an historical anime that doesn't really go into fantasy or sci-fi but more about war like themes: Like the Samurai aka feudal Japan or English redcoats or (maybe at bit farfetched) Napoleon's invasion of Russia?

 

Grave of the Fireflies is about WWII... sort of.

Fullmetal Alchemist is the only one that comes to mind, though it's sci-fi.

Rurouni Kenshin. One of the best-loved manga series of all time, and it has a LOT of historical references. I actually used it as a reference for a school powerpoint.
It's a historical/romantic comedy/action series, and it's decent in anime form.

 

Millennium Actress is a VERY good Anime movie. It's not really surrounding an event, but it's basically a narration kind of film about this Actress in the early 1930s. It's friggen amazing, and is a romance theme.

 

Oh and there's Samurai 7, I think its a prequel to Rurouni Kenshin. I could be wrong though.​

 

"Bare Foot Gen" is a movie about when the A-bomb was dropped on Japan. I saw that freshman year in history^^
