Utada's father,Teruzane, has confirmed over twitter that Hikaru Utada will be involved with making Kingdom Hearts III's theme song. The last song that she produced for the series, Sanctuary, was for the release of Kingdom Hearts II back in 2006.

This is really exciting News! I think a lot of people thought that she wouldn't get back with Disney after the alleged indecent with Disney not paying her, etc etc. I can't wait to see what she comes up with! :D

Result! I don't know how it'd feel without a Utada opening of some degree. KH3 is looking to be the greatest of all!

      Aww yes...
One of the checks on my KH3 checklist is realized. Really hope it's something new!

Well, "Yes" meaning "Yes, there will be a new song," or "Yes, but meaning that we're using Simple & Clean/Sanctuary again." The extent of her involvement could vary at this point lol.

Yay! This is very great news. Her songs always felt powerful or meaningful when it's for kh.

      That is awesome news.

I thought we would never have a new Utada song in KH. I'm glad because the Simple and Clean -Planit B- remix has been done to death.

I really hope she steps it up with the KH III theme, because Sanctuary was pretty disappointing.

I love Passion, I think something just got lost in the translation with Sanctuary. If I recall correctly, having to translate her songs was part of breaking the deal.

It's not that they weren't paying her, it's not they weren't paying enough in addition to the fact that they expected her to write and record whole new sets of lyrics for the English audience. My guess is that they either offered to pay more or agreed to use the Japanese versions of her songs from now on, probably both.

Kinda interested in finding out what her next song will be for the intro of this game. We got Simple and Clean with the first game, and Sanctuary with the second, which wasn't quite as fast as the first, but had it's own pleasure to it, so let's hope for something quite memorable

I agree, Passion was great. She just seems more versed at making songs in Japanese. Something never sits right with me when she does a song in English. The lyrics, the flow of the song as a whole...

Though I do agree with dk that the orchestral versions have always been fantastic. I never really focus on the singing in those.

I reckon Utada will come up with something kind of slow-ish (at parts) but mostly quite adventurous, however it'll have that conclusive tone to it. I also think that it'll be quite nostalgic, being the final game and all. Therefore, I wonder if there may be any brief references to the previous two songs in this new one, like a tiny hint at one point...

      Made my day :D

I look forward to her new song, it will surely bring all the magic back she put in her songs before :)

Welp, That ruined the mood.... :(

Anyways, Yes, I'm excited but I think that there's a catch in this.... I thought she won't make a new song in future games. I wonder what made her change her mind....

      YES!

Then again, maybe they're just reusing Hikari or Passion.

Yeah, that's sort of the issue. She doesn't make the songs specifically for KH, I suppose they just choose from her library (I think?). But she's then forced to translate the songs into English, which is annoying in itself, but the actual music in the song is made to fit the Japanese lyrics, so I think that's why we get some of the stretched, cringeworthy lines (in yooooou and I there's a new laaahaaaaaaaaaandyeah").

I love Utada so I don't think it's really her fault. It's really tough to do. Even if she doesn't do a new song for it I hope they'll pick from her discography (final distance mflo remix please).
