"After you left, the doctor came in and told me I could leave tomarrow!"

 

"We'll be there to bring you home. I can't wait to look after you. I can't do everything myself yet but I can do my best."

Jules stopped for breath. She told her parents what was happening.

"Everything is ready for you at home."

 

"That's great! I can't wait either! I'm sure you'll do just fine."

 

"You have to rest until tomorrow so that they will let you out. I'll sort some things for you and be there to fetch and carry for you."

 

"Sounds great! Well, I'm getting tired so I'm going to hang up now. Bye!"

 

"Bye Clint, sleep well."

Jules was really excited. She sang in the car on the way home and rested so that she would be strong for Clint tomorrow.

 

He put the phone away and rolled on his side. "I'm finally leaving this place!" he thought to himself.

 

Jules went home to bed as she still wasn't at full strength. She fell asleep and dreamt about Clint. It was the best she had slept since she had been shot.

 

He slowly drifted off to sleep.

 

Jules woke early the next morning and got ready as quickly as possible. She went into the guest room and turned back the covers ready. Clint would be coming home and she would be there to make him comfortable.

 

Clint woke up and saw that the doctors had placed a wheelchair next to the bed.

 

Jules climbed in the car behind her parents. Everyone seemed excited. Her mum had already lectured her about overdoing things and allowing Clint to rest.They pulled into the hospital car park and Jules ran into the hospital. She wanted to see Clint and take him home.

 

Clint sat up and ate some of the fruit that Jules brought over yesterday.

 

Jules knocked softly on the door. She waited for a response. Her parents waited quietly behind her. Today was a big day and Clint would join the family.

 

"Come in!" he said, with a big smile on his face.

 

Jules went over and hugged him. "We've come to take you home." She kissed his cheek and looked concerned.

"Has the doctor been yet? Mum and Dad have to talk to him first in case you need any medication and to get the exercise programme for you."

 

"He came in before I woke up and dropped off the wheelchair." he said. "I don't know where he is now."

 

Jules looked out of the door.

"Well my parents are signing forms and there is a doctor with them, so I guess that's him. They have a bag with them and they look happy."

Jules held Clint's hand. She wanted him to feel as happy as she did.

 

"Can you help me get in the chair?"

 

"I'll try."

Jules put her arms around Clint and gently guided him. She took his weight and winced in pain, hoping he hadn't noticed. When he was sat in the wheelchair she stood waiting for his next command.
