Hey, welcome to the forums. PM me for anyother questions but here's a response to your first one's:

For your avatar and signature: Click User CP button at the top of the page, it stands for User Control Panel. From there, you'll see a pretty menu on the left hand side full of fun links. Under the Settings and Options title, you'll find Edit Avatar and Edit Signature.

Very simple. =D
