If you went and brought a second hand laptop...and none of the memeory had been wiped...every time the password was the same and the email adress was saved to the computer...What would you do?
I would delete the memory. It wouldn't be right to just wander through others email and such. It would be an invasion of heir personal privacy and could really nail you in some deep ****. Who knows, maybe one day you do the same thing, and someone actually does steal your identity.
I don't understand what you're saying. Like, if you bought one and no one wiped it before selling it and left it locked with their password that you don't know? You need to be more clear on this. If that's the situation, I'd return it. Not wasting my money if I can't get on the damn thing.
Um...yeah, I'm confused as well. If you mean that the computer remembers all their internet passwords, you should definitely wipe the memory, because that's an invasion of privacy and, as Plums said, it could get you into a ton of trouble.
*sigh* What he means is: would you invade someone else's privacy if you had the chance (read: if the other person is stupid enough to allow his privacy to be invaded)? It's really not that hard to figure out, guys. Use that thing between your ears. I'm a curious person by nature so I'd probably take a sneak peek just once. If you're that much of an idiot to leave your personal data unattended, you derserve it (in a manner of speaking). Or that's what I'd tell myself to justify my shameless trespassing anyway.
I am not necessarily one to enjoy the invasion of one's privacy. I am curious of what may be in their files, yes, but unless the former person was someone whom I may consider of note I would simply label whatever they had previously saved on the laptop as irrelevant and proceed with my own doings.
Depends. I would probably take a peek, just to see what kind of idiot leaves something like that. If it was porn or somethign, I would delete everything and use the lappy as my own. If it was something interesting, like a ripped version of Marley and Me or soemthing, then I would keep looking. Who woudlnt' want a ripped version of a good movie on their laptop?
Can't deny I might peek since well someone was silly enough to leave it there and I'd be shocked that it -was- there in the first place. I wouldn't want to rummage through their email or anything like that because I do feel that's an invasion and I really am not a rubberneck or that super curious. Just perhaps see sites or something. In the end though, I'd wipe the memory because I wouldn't want to be violating someone's rights and I also wouldn't want to be suspected of foul play should something happen such as their site accounts/email etc were hacked. Also, I wouldn't feel secure knowing that I had someone else's crap on my computer I bought anyway, so it's going the way of the dodo.
Okay, okay...I don't think there's any reason to be contemptuous about it. His original post was clear enough to me but what got me confused was his second post. Let's all be friendly! :D Sure, the person made the mistake of not wiping the memory, but not everyone is very, erm, computer smart. It could have just been a mistake, a slip of the mind, so I don't think it's fair to peek just because of the person's stupidity. I mean, what would you do if you forgot to wipe your memory (maybe you had a lot on your mind or something and didn't remember) and someone else invaded your privacy?
