Anyway, God knows the Gainax fanboy in me fangasm'd at that scene. How could I not watch something animated by the entire Gurren Lagann team?

Your powerlevel is far too low if you can't watch 3 shows in one season.

 

Oh tis' not that, I would rather watching something that looks less like Puffy AmiYumi is all.

 

Basing an entire anime based on the character designs isn't the best thing to do.
If people did that, then movies like Redline and TV shows like Adventure Time would be unwatchable because the characters are hideous.
It's a fun light hearted show, sex, action, sex and more action. If you liked the movie Dead Leaves then you'll love this. If you didn't, then you'll hate this.
Also animated by TTGL team, a match made in heaven.
Also Action Hank with an Afro is in it.
