Ok, so, I found this old laptop which I'm on right now and it seems to work fine, but I want to use it from my room, and I am not sure how to use wireless with it. I saw some website that downloads wireless to your computer, or something, but I can't seem to find it.

    Any help?

    1. If this laptop is especially old, it might not even be equipped for Wireless. Try to check if it is. What version of Windows is it running on?

    2. Is there a wireless network set up in your house or nearby already?

Also -- that website sounds a bit dubious. Wireless should not require any downloading, or at least as far as I know.

It uses Windows XP and was made in 2002 and there is a wireless network setup in my house.

Ehh... Sounds like it should work,

Try going to Control Panel ===> Network/Internet ===> Set up wireless network connection.

The wizard should guide you through it. I'm not on XP and I haven't done this in a long time, so let me know if it looks like the wrong wizard.

Also -- Many laptops have a WLAN switch (or sometimes a card -- this may just be for Macs) you have to flick before you can use internet, so check to make sure. They would probably put it somewhere obvious if there was one.

    It might not be impossible.

Does it have USB ports? There are USB recievers for routers you can buy, usually used for desktops. If you give me the model of computer you're on I can probably look it up for you and tell you if it works with wireless as-is, too.

Mhm, I was just going to suggest a Wireless USB receiver. Your laptop should have some USB ports, since it's made in 2002.
    Nowadays they're pretty cheap.
