Help with Life

I don't even know you, so how can i hate you?

I think i am completely lacking individuality and opinion. Just about everything i do from the clothes i wear to the music i listen to is based off what my friends and family like. I mean it's great cuz i really do like most of the same things they do, but when I find something i like and try to share with friends how amazing i think it is, they kinda just laugh and brush me off. It kinda makes me feel like i don't even have a worthwhile opinion =/

 

Well if you like the stuff that they like thats great! But if you want to be a little more orginal when you find something, you should really go up to them and say "I think you would like this" And if they laugh you off, im not sure they are really your friends. :/

 

Maybe you should rebel, I mean thats what teenagers dom they rebel because they want to be an individual, I don't like most of the mainstream bands even if my friends do, just find something you don't like a make your statement, if your nat a teenager yet it will happen.

 

Just because your "friends" don't care about something you like doesn't mean you can't. No one's opinions are any better than someone else's.

thanks guys, i think i just feel like i don't contribute enough to my friendships.... but it's ok, i mean i love my friends to death and i know they love me, i just wish i could add a little more to show i care

lol, and btw my special way of rebelling is to not conform to a certain dress stereotype for too long. One day i am prepped out and the next i am wearing all black, i thinks it's kinda amusing. That's also where i got my user title from 'teh preble ginger' one of my friends called me a preppy rebel=preble and then ginger=hair color. I think that was probably one of the greatest remarks and have loved it ever since

This quote is a little misleading, because what people are really concerned about at all times is themselves and how they fit in. So every time you share your feelings or opinions, they feel a little threatened that it may mean their opinions and feelings are not so important to you. That's why you get the brush off. It's exactly the opposite of what you think. Your opinion is worthwhile and amazing, and because they don't get to hear it so often, shocking. So much so they don't always know how to react. It's easier to just laugh than it is to actually debate or even agree with you because they're so unsure of how you will take their response, they don't want to take a chance of sounding stupid or silly.

If you want to contribute more to your friendships, do alot of one on one things instead of big groups. Also, maybe get them a little gift for a small holiday or something

Hi um, it is almost the end of the day here, and I would like to say that I am very depressed right now. I am not blaming this on anyone here, because I rarely come on this forum...but I really need to get this off my chest. About 3 days ago I had my birthday...but everyone forgot about it, even my family...this has happened 2 or 3 times now, but usually after a day or two they remember it, and wish me happy birthday and stuff. I do not mean to sounds greedy; I am not asking for much...just a simple "Happy Birthday" would suffice...it makes me feel like I exist. Thanks for letting me type this out guys, you can take it out if you want, I just felt like I needed this.

P.S. I do not have a bad family, they are really great...it is just my birthday is a really special time for me; I really feel appriciated on it.
