It isn't easy for me to ask for help. I'm prideful as sin, and I usually dislike asking for help.

But I'm in a corner. My parents have told me if I don't have $1000 in my bank account by June, they'll kick me out of my house. I have a job, so it's easy to come by money. The issue is, my job is mediocre and minimum wage, and it has to be split between school expenses, lunch for work almost every day, bus passes to get to work on days I don't have a car because my parents need it, and paying my phone bill. I'm still in school, so a better job isn't much of an option currently. I can't really afford to live in a place that demands rent, so I've come to you all to ask for help. I've set up a GoFundme for this. The money will go towards school and all my necessities, and with any luck, I'll be on my own next fall. I'll be living on campus.

If you could please donate or spread this on tumblr, it would mean so much to me.

This site is wonderful, and full of wonderful people. I've seen us band together to make changes happen. Not necessarily in the world, but on here, and that means something.

Thank you so so much for anything you all do to help me. It means a lot.

Let it never be said I don't help my friends.

Should of told people you were a Nigerian Prince, though. You'd get money quicker that way.

Thanks so much to everyone for their help/kind words/signal boosting. It means a lot. Fortunately I'm now over 1/5th of the way there!

Unfortunately, they're thinking of cutting my hours at work, and that's not good. I'm currently looking for a job elsewhere, but my hopes aren't high. Either way, I thought you guys could use an update, and I wanted to bump this thread. Thanks so much to you guys!

Are you going to tell your parents where you got the money?

It would seem like a waste of a lesson if the result was "I asked the internet for help"

It wouldn't really matter to them where I got the money because they're just trying to get rid of me. I heard them talking last night and they just want me gone.

Maybe use the money that's being donated on a deposit for a place to rent then. Flat shares can be affordable and easy to find online. Why postpone the inevitable if they're so hellbent on having you leave?

Unfortunately, I can't help, but I can say that your parents are being mean.

That's pretty much what I was thinking. The $1000 is to ensure I don't get kicked out and have a place to stay for free until I can make proper arrangements to leave.

If too much time passes without you hitting the half way mark I'll donate again to help you out.
And maybe a third time just to spite your parents.

Let's not judge his parent's (parenting skills?), for one thing you can't live with mommy and daddy forever. Truthfully if you did for too long, you'd become more dependent on them than you (not you specifically) should be. Plus you don't know their situation financially, emotionally, etc. So you really have no room to judge them on this (in a fair way at least) whatsoever.

I could have worded that differently. What they're doing seems mean or mean-spirited, but not them themselves.

As someone who's been on the verge of getting kicked out, I can tell you. If you have no job, very little money, and a lot of health problems that I won't go into here, getting kicked out by your parents can be the last straw. If my mother had actually gone through with it and kicked me out, she would never see me again (and I would likely just go live with my father anyway). Getting kicked out is basically saying 'we don't love you anymore, and we no longer want you around'.

Luckily, some stuff happened for me that meant I didn't get kicked out, but that's a different story. I would have moved out years ago, honestly, if I was able, but I am physically incapable of living on my own right now.

Anyway, to the point, while it's true that we don't know the whole story in terms of money and such, kicking your kid out can be awful for everyone involved. Obviously no one -wants- to live with their parents forever, and there -are- situations where someone might be shoved out of their parents house, but it seems to me that, in this situation, kicking HoT out is probably not the best course of action.

You know i'd be so much better off in life if I didn't open my mouth lol. ANYWHOOO

Don't worry about it dude, I was more or less getting at the whole "you don't know their situation, feelings, etc, so saying something about it isn't fair to them or the OP".

Understand that I wasn't trying to say that HoT deserves to be kicked out. Rather that this situation (without enough information on the table) is far too complicated to judge (like I said, without there being proper information). Thing is, the whole "we don't love you anymore, and no longer want you around" thing...is so unfair to say. First and foremost, you have to be a really effing terrible person to flat out not love your child, regardless of the situation. Assuming that every parent that kicks their child (or rather, their son or daughter who is a young adult now) falls under that "doesn't love their son/daughter" category is not only wrong, but unnecessarily hurtful.

Let's look at this situation, we have someone who is reaching out for help (and is perhaps a bit shy about it, that's understandable). There is probably a lot of awkward/painful tension around the OP and their parents. Adding: "if your parents kick you out, that means they don't love you", to that will just make the relationship between the OP and their parents worse.

At the end of the day, my point was that we flat out DON'T KNOW the full situation (even people who talk to the OP personally), so judging the people involved is not needed, and if anything will just do more damage. As someone who has a best friend who is homeless half the time, I understand just how damaging such things can be. However, assuming that only bad things come out of things like this, and only acknowledging the bad, isn't something that the OP needs. Even in the worst situations there can be positives.

    Update on this.

I got my hours cut at work so I had to raise the campaign back up to $800. Prior to that I had it lowered to $500 because I got paid, but then it turned out I would still be short. I am sorry for not posting about it prior. While life getting in my way is a ****** excuse, it's what happened. Exams and work caused me to forget.

I have been making extra money, which I should have mentioned too, but it's only going towards food, with a small portion paying off a fee I owed on a figure I preordered last year. But that's EXTRA MONEY, not anything I got from you guys, I promise. It's from helping a lady with her computer.

After a bit, I ended up doing some budgeting with a few friends, and we figured out I would only be $250 short. Since I had that raised already, it seems pointless to continue, so I’ve closed the campaign. Thanks so much to everyone who helped, it means a lot!

I found living mates and we’re in talks about finding a place. The $250 will be used for that and ONLY that- nothing more, nothing less. I’m hoping to find a place close to my college campus, but it’s proving rather difficult.

It was wrong of me to withhold all this information, as it was vital, and for that I greatly apologize. Though in all sincerity, perhaps just asking for budgeting advice could have saved me and all of you a lot of trouble. That's also another thing that was incredibly wrong of me, so I apologize deeply for that.

Thanks again for all the help. It’s much appreciated.

Also, if you my plans end up falling through and I don't move out but I have enough to still live with my parents, I'm gonna give you your money back somehow, okay? It would be wasted on me if I end up not having to leave :)
