So I'm going to buy a DS soon and I need to know what the best game are for the system. I've had one before, but it got boring and I killed the games I had for it and I sold it for PS2 game money. Now all these other games are coming out and I don't know what to do because some of these games look really good. Could anyone help me out with this?

I read about that game and I don't know about that one. It confused me.

It really depends on what you like.

    Personally, I'd recommend:

-Pokemon games (Platinum is the most recent, I'd suggest that one)
    -Super Mario 64 DS
    -World Ends With You
    -Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
    -Animal Crossing: Wild World
    -Megaman ZX
    -Megaman ZX Advent

Those are the ones I play the most frequently, so yeah.

Well I'm into adventure, shooting and racing games the most. Pokemon Platinum is a must, we already had a discussion about it in that thread. Any way I was looking at Megaman ZX the other day and I jus might get that too.

Could I get and explanation on this Suikoden Tiekris please. Or at least a short review.

    "lots of over-the-top voice acting"

    Thats what they said.

Anyway it looks kinda like a Final Fantasy game I think I'll get that one too.

It's true that the voice acting is sometimes a joke, but the scenery and the cutscenes are pretty cool. Rumor has it it will be a 40+ hour game and I can see it.

    Definitely recommend TWEWY as well.

Well I read that it may have 108 character options and the gameplay looks good enough for me. Over 40 hours is also good because I hate it when good things come to an end.

If you like Pokemon, go for Platinum or Ranger to keep you busy. As for THE BEST GAME!? I say go play The World Ends With You like everyone else suggested.

    YES. YESYESYES. Quoted for truth.

    Seriously.

Get the Ace Attorney games. I beg of you. DX
Time Hollow was good too, but not as good as the Ace Attorney series and definitely not 'the best of all time' worthy, so nevermind =P. IT WAS STILL GOOD THOUGH.

I heard Professor Layton and the Curious Village was amazing, so you might want to check that out as well. If you're not into puzzle-type text heavy stuff like that though (looks like you're not), then you probably won't like any of the stuff I just mentioned DX.
I say give something new a shot and see if you like it above all else, really. The touch screen on the DS can really spice up some otherwise bland genres of gaming (Well, not bland really, but basic I suppose).

The world ends with you is a must. it is odd at first but it is easily the best game i ever played on the ds.
Castlevania ordr of ecclessia you said you arent much into castlevania, but this game is actually pretty awesome. i normally am not a big fan of castlevania either, but i liked this one.
If you want a few simple but challenging games try bangai-o spirits and N+.
Some other games that i thought were pretty good were; Bleach:dark souls, or Blade of fate (The newer of the two), Custom Robo Arena, Digimon world Dusk, Draglade, Disgea DS, Spectrobes beyond the portals, Star wars force unleashed, Yu-gi-oh Spirit caller, Pokemon platinum, Dragon quest: Monsters, and animal crossing.

That was pretty much a list of all the games i liked for the DS ever. You said all of the FF's were a must so didn't bother to mention any of those. I hope this helps.

I'm going to have to give an extra nod to the Professor Layton mention, because I just got that myself and I'm having a ball with it. Then again, I'm into those sort of little quirky games and was instantly won over by it.

I have TWEWY, and I like it, so go get that. The Final Fantasy games can't be missed either, and neither can the three Pokemon games (I wasn't a big fan of Rangers or Mystery Dungeon). If I dip further into my personal collection I can offer up Super Mario 64 DS, Phantom Hourglass, Mario and Luigi Partners in Time, both Trauma Centers, and Rayman DS (for old times sake).
